Did it stop focusing at 300mm at any distance or just up close?

possibly have focus limiter on to something that prevents you from focusing further away?

dock reset would not have any impact on where the focus limiter switch is set to

the AF issues happen with faraway subjects?  i.e. 40 feet away?  what about at MFD?

If AF on camera and on the lens is ON, Limiter on the lens is on FULL and Custom on OFF and it doesn't focus then your lens is broken.

Maybe you can try updating FW first, if there are some problems with earlier FW and the camera in question

The lens is new so it has current FW.

He's indicated using the dock with to reset settings, which means if his FW was out of date, he would have been made aware at that time that it was available.  I certainly hope he wouldn't have ignored it

Re: Focus issue with Sigma 120-300 f2.8 sport

If you've reset via dock, didn't ignore any potential FW updates, and ruled out switches on the lens, I think your next option is to try alternate bodies (friends, camera store, etc..) to see if the issue remains.  This is probably headed towards the lens needing Sigma's attention

Thank you

Basically i just checked with other bodies and have a same issue

With other lenses everything is well

Its very wird, have a chance that the lens is defective although she is a new?

I dont have luck with sigma lenses, with my last 120-300 i had same issue until i replaced focus engine

I saw in other posts and i think to more photographers with this lens its happened

The switch is on Af

Swith of custom is off

Swith of limiter is infinity

Stabilizer is off

Have a chance that the lens is defective although she is a new?

Maybe do you know about more photographer's with this lens have a same issue?

I think its issue with sigma lenses

Re: Focus issue with Sigma 120-300 f2.8 sport

if NEW lenses never had issues, they wouldn't come with this thing they call WARRANTY

It happens, and unless there's apparent physical trauma evidence to the lens, you should be well covered

I recently purchased this lens for a Canon 5D.M4 and I had front-focusing issue, meaning the lens was front focusing even when I used a single autofocus point.  The resolution was for me to send my camera body with the lens to Sigma for calibration.

Re: Focus issue with Sigma 120-300 f2.8 sport

There is a range switch on the barrel of the lens. More than once I have experienced issues similar to what you describe until I remembered to check that switch. Good luck.
