GX7 question

Using  in the GX7 in AF is it possible to punch in to 100% magnification to check focus. It only seems possible in MF mode. I can't see how to do it anyway. Can anyone enlighten me?

Push the rear control dial (in MF mode)

1. In manual focus mode turn the focus ring on the lens. That brings up the small focusing square on the screen. This can be adjusted (3x - 6x) by turning the rear control dial.

2. Press the rear control dial (below the on/off switch) and that will enlarge the small square to full screen. You can the turn the rear control dial up to 10x (100%).

Magnified view when focusing in AFS mode

Here's one way to get magnified view in AFS mode. This appears not to work in AFF or AFC mode.

First, in the menu settings go to p. 3/8 of the Custom ("C" plus wrench) settings, and turn "AF+MF" to "on." The setting below that, "MF Assist," lets you choose whether to activate this by turning the focus ring on the lens, or by pressing the left button on the four-way controller, or both. I have mine set to both but generally use the focus ring on the lens.

Then when you autofocus on your subject (by half-press of the shutter button or pressing the AF/AE Lock button), while you are holding that just turn the focus ring of the lens (or press the left button of the four-way controller) for magnified view.

You can set it for picture in picture magnification, or full screen magnification (more on that below). By turning the back control dial, you can quickly increase magnification in 1x increments, with a maximum of 6X for PIP, or 10X for full screen. You can change these settings in manual focus mode, and they will carry over to AFS mode.

Here are a couple of crappy cell phone pics showing it both in PIP and full screen mode, in AFS:

The icon at the bottom, just to the left of "Exit," switches it between PIP and full screen.

It might also be possible to set a fn button to activate magnified view when you press it, but I'm not sure about that.

Thank you that's very useful.
