GH5 - how to control iso by rear dial?

Can't do it... I've tried everything and can not set rear dial (next to AF/AE LOCK) to control iso. Only front dial works that way and Cursor/Control Wheel. I am pretty sure I was able to do it on GH4, but not on GH5, updated to fw 2.6. Any instructions please..?

To clarify: are you asking about the top-rear dial on the shoulder of the camera, or the one on the back of the camera next to the LCD?

On my G9, I don't see a way to assign ISO to the shoulder dial. I can set it to the back dial:

Menu: Custom: Section 3 (dial operation): Dial Set: Control Dial Assignment.

In AE modes, I have my front dial control SS, Aperture or Program Shift as appropriate; the shoulder dial does Exposure Compensation; the back dial handles ISO. Works fast & intuitively for me.

Thanks for a quick response. I am talking about top-rear dial, NOT the Control Wheel (the one next to LCD). I can assign SS or F to front or rear dial, but not ISO control :/ I can only control ISO by top-front dial or Control Wheel.

Edit: OK, one have to press F1 function button first to enable ISO on rear dial - but only temporarily.

On the G9, ISO can be set by the Control Wheel directly, without having to press any buttons beforehand using the menu sequence I sent earlier. I'm thinking it should be the same on GH5?

Does the GH5 have a dedicated ISO button on the top plate? The one on the G9 cannot be reassigned, but using it gives additional options like auto-ISO limit settings.

Yes, it has dedicated iso button on top plate. In addition there is also Fn button to switch both dials (called F1 that can be assigned to something else). See it HERE

The Control Wheel works with iso by default, but I am much more used to change iso by rear dial instead, after using GH4 this way for quite a long time.

I am having the same problem. I have iso assigned to the top rear dial, but it changes the iso limit instead of the actual iso. This is so annoying. I work for a company that uses GH5s and I've gotten very used to using the top rear dial to adjust iso. But it doesn't work on my personal GH5.

How did you fix this? By pressing Fn1? I have that assigned for Ex-Tele..

Neither my GH5 or G9 will control ISO by either front or rear dial WITHOUT first pressing the ISO button behind the front dial.

Mapping ISO directly to the back 4-way control pad dial is possible though - Fn 17 on GH5; Fn 16 G9 - which is my setup. Fn1 doesn't include ISO as a poss.

Re: GH5 - how to control iso by rear dial?

I was finally able to manage it, with some help from different forum.

1. In setting menu, it has to be set: C.Wrench/Operation/Dial. Set/Control Dial Assignment = ISO

2. Press DISP button to toggle ISO/ISO Limit to rear/front dials, and then press MENU/SET to make it permanent.
In other words: press ISO button first, then toggle dials function by pressing DISP button, then press MENU/SET. From now turning rear dial controls ISO (after pressing ISO button).

Right. I was thinking that you wanted a one-step ISO solution without having to first press the top ISO button. The only way to do this is to map it directly to the 4-way pad dial with Fn #16 as I said before.

You can map exp. comp. directly to front or back top dials without first having to press top EC button, through the "Dial Set" menu.

Thank you for this! Who knew all I needed to press was 'display' when in ISO mode!

But an even more simple, 1-step approach is to map ISO directly to the 4-way pad-dial wheel - Fn 17 on the GH5, Fn 16 on G9, bypassing the ISO button. It is easier on the G9 tho, as the GH5 dial wheel is more recessed. Also works well on GH6...
