NX1 can actually shoot 15fps.

Do you believe you can do it? That would be the second coming! But no, I do not have one.

you mean, a spare NX1 to do the hack?

can you deliver 12-15fps at 3:2 (6480x4320) 28M?

I think it's more viable than trying to mod the NX Mini, which I've been focusing on. Its fastest burst rate yields 2.7K 30p for 1 second. The sensor is capable of continuous 5.4K 25p or 4K 60p, but I have no idea if the Mini's hardware could handle that. So far I only know how to run adjustment scripts on it, which are rather limited and a far cry from being able to execute arbitrary code.

I don't have an NX1 to try modifying. The NX500 has a lower buffer capacity/continuous shooting rate. Still, I should be able to determine whether or not it's feasible to shoot continuously without exhausting the buffer. It would be ideal if someone had a spare camera to test things on, because modding can lead to a soft[ware] brick.

Nx1 sensor can deliver: 4K 120fps, and 1080p, 240 fps...

I once read that the Nx1 sensor could deliver 4K 120fps (or was it 240?!?), like the new A7 sIII, and 1080p, 240 fps... I'm sure that if Samsung was still in the business, that's what a SAmsung Nx2 might have been... A lot of this camera limitation, are due to software, not to hardware...

As for the Nx500. With less crop in 4K, and a way of recording external audio somehow trough the USB port, like the Gopro, and that would be my perfect camera, because it has a selfie LCD...

Thanks

Am still very happily using my NX1 in 2020. In the past year I added a spare NX1 body, 2 lenses (NX 45 and NX 60 Macro) , and a second SEF-580 flash to my gear (all purchased off eBay).

This gear may be out of date but it still gives me and my customers the images they want and it is, to me, a real pleasure to use. The EVF on this camera is great and it's relative light weight (compared to a similar SLR) is a real plus for me.

The largest image normally printed is 13X16 and for me the sensor in the NX1 is more than adequate for that. With only a few years before retirement from professional photo work I expect this system to go as long as is needed by me.

Only problem to date with my Samsung gear has been the knurled rubber on the zoom ring of the NX S 16-50 mm has split. Are many others still using the NX products for professional work in 2020?

I'm still in 2021 and still don't switch to another gear, it's still very good and very organic, the image and function

I am no professional but will be using my NX1 + 16-50mm S for my nephew's wedding in the coming week. I'll also have a NX500 and 3 small primes (16, 20 & 30mm) as a back-up. Have total confidence in the system for my purposes.

Re: Still using my NX1 for professional shoots in 2020

I have been considering many cameras around and all I could find as a better gear are the following:

Fujifilm GFX 50 and 100

Sigma FP L

(Maybe) Canon Eos R3

(Maybe) Fujifilm X H2s.

That's it. But here we are talking about very expensive cameras, aren't we?

As always, Panasonic S, g9, gh5/6 are very useful and interesting.

In my opinion, Sony is not worthy the price.

I am using my NX cameras until know.

I have a Pocket4K as a dedicated video camera and I just got a Canon R7 to re-introduce myself to the Canon eco systen.

Ibis is good to have, though not a deal breaker for me. The Canon AF is ace, and probably the best in business right now. Canon offers 10bit video Clog3 and better ISO performance.

These last 2 are very significant for me, and why I finally invested on a different system, after 9 good years with Samsung I had to move on a bit and see something more modern.

Still the total NX experience is the best in business for me and my needs. Best menu system, ergonomics, features, oled screens, native lenses and so many more..

I will be using both systems for a while now, and see where it will take me. Maybe sell some stuff (e.g NX3000 like new, some tele lenses because I have EF glass) but some things are not easy to find on the RF world.

hTe miniscule NX500 with the extra elegant design, paired with the amazing pancake primes, or the best ergonomic camera ever made (NX1) paired with the "baby Leica" 45mm for fun, and one of the best pro lenses ever made (16-50S) for business..the fish eye is a must for me too..all the rest are there, 28mgpxls (Canon is 32) BSI sensor (Canon is not), H265 video for 78min - if you will, unbeatable touch interface and a few other goodies with a very modern AF system and DIS..

I will be very reluctant to give my NX stuff away, there are so many things I miss when I am using other systems. The only sector I am not missing anything is the all around lens, as I have the 12-100mm 4f Olympus for m43 and the EF-S nano 18-135mm (adapted with vND adapter) for Canon.

After so many years, some of us realize that the biggest advantage of the NX system, were the NX lenses. Unique designs very cleverly introduced, or upgraded when needed be.

Add the super sexy and super ergonomic designs, and the ultimate technology that Samsung used back in 2015-16, and you have a perfectly relevant system, still..

Re: Still using my NX1 for professional shoots in 2020

I was happy to have NX1/500 for more than 5 years. I sold them recently with most of the lenses, only Samyang 8 2.8 fish left here.

I got myself Canon R6 and it's covering 99% of what I want from a camera currently and I have a lot of EF lenses to use.

P.S. I forgot - I still have NX Mini with 17 1.8 lens

Thanks friends for all the reply's.  Still using my NX1 here in March 2023.  Looking for a good low use NX1 body at a price I can afford but they are now few & far between.

Very sad to see DPReview end.  Wondering where the Samsung users can/will go from here.  It has been so nice to have an excellent place to exchange ideas.

My best to everyone and especially our excellent moderator.
