Z7 Moire example (and LR fix)
Was just playing with my Z7 and 24-70/2.8S and saw this moire on a throw pillow. First time I had tried using the LR Moire healing brush and it did a pretty good job. I used to see moire with my 5DSR + 50/1.4Art but back then I didn't have as clean/easy of a fix.
Probably best to look at original res if you want to see the issue (it's on the patterned throw pillow). I cropped these to show 100% pixel on my iMac Pro.

Anyone else have Z7 moire examples? I searched but didn't see actual examples even though I noticed some reviewers mentioned that it could be an issue with the Z7.
Having shot a lot of fashion (clothing) I can tell you that moire can occur frequently. Men’s clothing is the worst (pants and sport coats/suits). Sometimes it cleans up fine but I can tell you that many times it does not and you are left with monochrome moire.

Yea. I am going to go back and try the moire healing brush on some wedding shots that are exactly as you describe. I'm curious if it gets any better with the new tool.

Is this image from screen capture or is it a developed jpeg image, one which is created from NEF file?

Would it be possible to get access to the raw file? I'd like to get a go on this using CNX, the way I develop raw files. Though I just had a total computer crash (motherboard), so it will take a few days before I am fully up and running on a new PC, arriving hopefully tomorrow, but will take a while before everything is installed and running again. Never the less, I'd like to give it a try.
Regarding the "cleaned-up"... I don't like the results. It seems smeared out on large areas, and at the borders of the smearing, the moire is still visible.

Yes. Exported from LR with minimal processing and highest quality jpeg encoding (at full resolution).

Yea. I didn't work on it very hard. Just ran the Moire default healing brush over the portion of the pillow that was affected. I'm sure it could be improved. Anyway, this represents a pretty big improvement vs the past where there were even fewer options to clean up moire.

It is quite common with building structures. Sometime difficult to handle.
Makes sense. I'm surprised there haven't been more forum posts about this topic.
What method do you use to attempt to fix moire in your images? I'm surprised at the improvement with the healing brush in LR but it is not perfect. Curious if others have a better approach.
Before
After
I tried Adobe Photoshop and Capture 1. There were both Moire remove and noise reduction involved. But I found the structural alteration was very difficult to recover.
When I tried the same lens on 7iii (Z6 or D750/780 could be the same), it was much much better. The difference is the AA filter.
In reality I probably will try some different angles or light conditions to avoid that, instead of cleaning that up through PP. Or change a camera with AA filter if possible.
And congratulations! You got a super sharp lens, so you were troubled.

That's why it would be interesting to have the raw and try it my way.
