Jumpy image stabilization

I purchased the new Olympus PEN E-PL10 after my good old E-PM2 started to break. When using image stabilization, the image on the viewfinder moves a little when focusing. It also seems to sometimes do a little jump when moving the frame. Also when moving a lot it sometimes lets out a crackle. From what I read it sounds like it might be using the image stabilization all the time, and that noise and jumping happens when it needs to reset the position of the sensor. But when I press the shutter half way, I can clearly see the image getting more stabile, and also hear a bit louder humming, as if the stabilizer have just started. So if the image stabilization is not active before focusing, why does it do those things? There is only option "IS: on" and "IS: off".

Now that I did a little more testing, the image suddenly seemed to be quite stabile. Don't know what is going on, but anyone else had this, is this normal or defective?

Using the 40-150mm f4-5.6.

Re: Jumpy image stabilization

I think the sensor is always on and floating when the camera is turned on even if you have IS set to off. I don't have your camera but my Oly cameras have a menu setting to allow me to settle down the EVF view when I press the shutter down half way or not until it actually takes the image.

I suspect what you are seeing is normal?
