Most useful 450g ever carried.

I've bought this camera as used after owning Olympus XZ-1 for several years and also having quite big Pentax DSLR setup with numerous cameras and lenses. I bought this camera in mint condition for about $160 and it immediately replaced my XZ-1 as daily carry camera. Yes it is bigger and EVF eyepiece is large, but the focal range and sensor performance are both very nice. While XZ-1 on base ISO100 provides nice images, Stylus1S is perfectly usable even at ISO400 to get quite clean images. Of course ISO400-1600 has its limits and above ISO1600 it is only for emergency use.
Lens is very good, even fully open at F2.8 it is perfect in central part and around F4 whole frame is perfectly detailed. Stabilisation works VERY well! Autofocus on central point is quite good for compact camera from 2015 too. AF tracking and multi-point or face detection has its limits, but still very acceptable for general use.

VIdeo has standard modes with stabilisation included. 120fps and 240fps does not have stabilisation available and clips have very limited length. But it is interesting to observe some 120fps videos, while 240fps resolution is too low for my taste.

Only disadvantage is that battery cannot be charged in camera via USB like in XZ-1. But fortunately there are cheap USB chargers on aliexpress or ebay available for few $, so even charging from powerbank is possible. Anyway, get two batteries at least.

I also carry this camera in DSLR bag as it is perfect for quick videos or snapshots with that beautiful lens.

If you see some cheap, buy it! You won't regret.

I agree completely. For a camera that was introduced in 2013, it still has relevance today. Wonderful zoom lens, great EVF, smallish size, and great photos. There is not another camera like it today.

I got my first Stylus 1 in 2014 and am still using one quite a lot. The sensor and lens are a very good combo and still hold up in 2020 for what it is. Part of me wishes the 1/1.7" sensor compacts like this were still being produced. In any case the Stylus 1 will remain a good camera for years to come. I am on my 3rd copy

I have the XZ-2 and find it is still a surprisingly nice performer for an all-in-one point n shoot. Anyone have thoughts on how the XZ-2 and Stylus 1 compare? I have the optional viewfinder on the XZ-2 - so the main difference seems to be the 10x zoom on the Stylus 1, But am more interested in just general image quality comparisons - similar, different?
