Samsung NX1 OSD doesn't refresh
Dec 12, 2019
I'm still using my NX1 every day. I love it. Lately though I've been having some trouble with it and, I hope you can help me.
A few things are weird:
- When I turn on the NX1 the screen goes on, off, on, off, on and then stays on (sometimes it goes off and on a few more times). The green light flickering the whole time.
- The OSD doesn't seem to 'update' or 'refresh' after every input. So if I click menu, the menu opens but it doesn't update when browsing through the menu's on every click (with update I mean highlight the selected menu item). So the OSD seems to be lagging, but I do hear the sound and if I click OK it still selects the item it had selected (even though you can't see it's selected). I hope this makes sense, otherwise I'll upload a video of this behaviour.
- I don't have these problems using the viewfinder.
- The camera doesn't show the battery percentage. The battery icon is not shown in the display and when I navigate to the menu with bluetooth etc it just says 0%.
Here's the weird part: When I connect the NX1 through HDMI to a TV, all of these problems disappear. I can navigate the menu's, battery shows the percentage again.
I've tried to do a factory reset, tried to get into the dev menu, tried to get it to remove the record limit using the script from ottokiksmaler (just to see if anything works), tried to reflash the firmware. Nothing works, and I don't mean that those things aren't the solution, they just don't work. I can't flash firmware, because the camera thinks the battery is empty. Flashing doesn't work while connected to a HDMI output. The dev menu doesn't work (key combinations do nothing) the firmware via PC doesn't work because it's not newer, so it won't flash. I did however manage to install NX-KS.
I really hope anyone can shed any light on this.
