70-300mm to 70-350mm, anyone switched?

I'm curious about the first-hand experiences of the owners of FE 70-300mm who switched to E 70-350mm. Preferably on a6300 or later body (a6400 or a6600 would be ideal).

I'm sure you are enjoying weight/size savings...

* Do you see any AF speed improvement in AF-C?

* Do you see any IQ difference at 300-350mm wide open?

* Do you miss focus limiter?

* Do you miss closer focus distance?

* What about 1/3 stop difference?

I have a very good copy of the 70-300mm on a6400 and enjoy it quite a bit. Wondering if anyone switched and what you think after you did that.

Thanks!

I just pulled the trigger on the $900 70-350 today.  I sold my 70-300 after I ran a comparison to the 70-200 which proved to be sharper at matching focal lengths.  Looking forward to comparing the 70-350 A6400 to my A9 70-200.

Tried two copies but gave up when both were defective or something. I rarely could get focused shots at the long end if the subject was moving. I have zero issues with my 100-400mm. Maybe needs a firmware fix or something. When both did focus correctly at 350mm neither was near as sharp as my previous 70-300mm but it was an excellent copy. Really wished it had worked out. I tried both copies using an a6500 and A7RIV.

Well, 70-200 should be sharper than 70-300. Looking forward to your experiences of the 70-350 on a6400.

Re: 70-300mm to 70-350mm, anyone switched?

Well decided to go ahead and try a third copy in hope that my first two were just defective or not so great copies. They both probably came from the same batch. It was like there was something wrong with the IBIS when using both zoomed out. I remember on both there was extreme shake and motion blur even when taking shots of still subjects at 350mm.  Hoping three times is a charm. Others really seem to like the lens. If not then it will go back too. I did love the weight and size when I tried them. We shall see.

Like yourself I have the FE 70-300 and was considering the switch to the 70-350, however Mark Galer reported that the AF was no different between the two despite the uprated system in the newer lens.

Also I like the idea of getting an A7 of some flavour and obviously I can switch between, so the FE lens is staying.
