NX2000 vs GX9
3

So, regrettably, I gave up on NX and jumped to m43 and got a Panasonic GX9 to replace my NX2000. Now, this is a beautiful camera, with a multitude of features that the NX2000 can't match, like a viewfinder, tilting screen, 4K, and much more, but on actual image quality I must confess I thought, smaller size notwithstanding, the Panasonic sensor would be better than the NX sensor, which is 8 years old. But, well, not really. There's really nothing in it. The 16-50PZ Samsung lens, too, is just as good as the 12-32 Panasonic kit lens (but not actually quite as wide. So, there you go.

Unfortunately, to get the better sensor in m43 you have to go for more expensive body (G9, EM1II, EM5III, etc). Although they seem the same (20mp,etc) there are two different sensors with one having better performance in high ISO (and readout speed, AF, etc).

Good luck with the new camera and have fun shooting

Could very well be, but for the same price (actually less) you can get a new Sony A7 Mark I with lens

Re: NX2000 vs GX9

On second thoughts, after some more comparisons, especially at higher ISO (1600), the Panasonic crushes the Samsung. I guess 5 years does make a difference after all.

It seems Panasonic GX9 has the same sensor as on GX8 (see here and here ). Here's a comparison of sensors in Samsung NX2000 and GX8.

The biggest difference will be observed when you view images from both cameras at 100%. Ignore the MPs, as my phone has more MPs than either cameras Instead, focus on the difference in image quality and "clarity" brought by the size of sensor. An image from a bigger sensor will always look better when enlarged because it captures a bigger image to begin with. This is true as long as lenses are comparable, and sensor generation/tech is comparable. That's the same reason Pros used Medium format or Large format back in film days, not the dinky APS cameras

6 years and 7 months. NX1 is 5 years old.
