T6(1300D) vs 77d

Will i get any improvements in image quality as price wise this is quite  a huge jump, between T6 and 77D would it really be justified for a hobbyist,

Any help would be appreciated..

I'm using Canon T2i (550D), Canon T3i (600D) and Canon T7i (800D) cameras.  So with that experience I would think In bright light, you probably won't notice much difference (and if you didn't need to crop much).  But the Canon 77D is so much better of a camera in many ways and if it's not too expensive for you, I would seriously consider getting one.

With the Canon T7i/800D camera (which is similar to the Canon 77D), you can expect to get these kinds of ISO12800 photos.

I have a 77d and it's been a very good camera.

But if you're looking for a new body, the 90d is the way to go.

The biggest thing that could affect your image quality is the 77d has micro focus adjustment, while the t6 doesn't.

Microfocus adjustment let's you fine tune the focus for your particular lens, so you could possibly get sharper pictures.

Second, if you take pictures in live view the,77d has dual pixel autofocus, which is slightly better than the system the t6 uses.

Other than that, the lens will make a bigger difference than the body.

Even so, I would say it would be worth it to get the 77d because of it's other features, even though most of them won't affect image quality.

Two big ones for me, the 77d has a touch screen and the screen swivels, two things the t6 is missing.

Also if you take videos, the t6 doesn't have a plug for an external microphone.

thanks for your help...i do see that there is an improvement in ISO quality from the T6 to the 77D. But my question also is that if i invest in such a camera will it really improve my photography over the T6?

Probably not.  Lenses will make more of a difference.  But, if you want a new camera, you might look at the T7i.  It's not much different from the 77D, and cheaper.

Yes, your photography would be improved some.  Note also that the Canon T6 (1300D) camera does not have dust sensor protection.

But it would only be some.  Other things that could improve your photography would be knowledge, techniques, lenses and subject matter etc.  Subject matter is highly important.  If it's a serious hobby, where you find you enjoy taking pictures many times each month, that could also be a deciding factor in your decision.  How much money you are willing to spend is another factor.

With the swing out and swivel screen, you can get shots with the 77D, t6i, and t7i that you couldn't get with the t6, and other shots you could get, but are made easier with s swing out screen.

One example  would be standing in a crowd, you can hold the camera over your head with the screen pointed down and take a picture or video.

Another would be holding the camera low to the ground, instead of laying on your belly, you can swing out the screen and point it up so you only have to kneel....

Not things you will likely do too often, but it's a nice feature to have when you need it.

The 77D does not have MFA (micro focus adjustment).

The eye of the photographer is the single most important component in taking quality photos.  Beyond that, technical mastery of your gear is very important.  I took a course a few years ago where our only cameras were pinhole cameras.  I also took a tintype class.  I was taught to look first, then compose and shoot.  We managed to get some amazing shots with very crude equipment.
While having equipment that doesn’t get in your way, or frustrate you, is very important, the person behind the lens is always the biggest limitation or asset.  The T6 is a very basic DSLR, but it is capable of producing excellent shots.

I would personally first invest my money in photography classes.  When you find your equipment is no longer meeting your needs, it's time to upgrade.  I would also suggest, when and if that time comes, that you visit Canon's online refurbished store.  You'll find a large variety of gear there, all of which is like new and fully guaranteed, and available at significant discounts over brand new gear.

IMHO, the rush to always have “ the latest and the greatest” can easily overlook the real skill sets needed to achieve success in photography.  I think we all love technology, myself included, but don’t expect new gear to produce professional quality results by itself.  Some of the worst photos I've ever seen have come out of some of the most expensive cameras and lenses out there.  Conversely, some of the best shots are produced by very modest equipment .. in the hands of a skilled photographer.
