New GH9, New firmware update......and I'm confused!

Yep, BRAND new G9. Fingerprints on it aren't even dry yet. Took it out for a test run, then installed the new firmware update 2.0

I've been going through all of the menu items on the camera, and setting up for my preference so far. I have a G7, so a lot of it was familiar, but of course there's a lot of new great stuff.

I'm confused because:  The firmware update was successful, in Version, it states it as 2.0 (was 1.3 before); but as I look through the menu, I don't see the new items that should be there. (near shutter, far shutter etc).

But I do see one item that is new: Activate

It's in the Function Menu>Activate, and the options are: Export Serial Code, Import Activation Code, and in a greyed-out option: Activation List.

What the heck is  this??

Sorry about such a Noob question here on this distinguished forum. Please feel free to laugh and point before answering my question, and I really appreciate your help!

I will be asking others as I really dig into the system. Might even post some pics later for your input. Always looking for improvement!

Hi Bruce. A new camera plus a new firmware to learn = aarrgghh. I get it.

However, you might find it useful to download the latest user guide /manual which includes the V2.0 changes 😊

Paid V-Log update. You're probably not needing that right now.

AND for others that may be scratching their heads, I finally found the updated user manual on the Panasonic web site. (they did a REALLY good job of hiding it)

Thanks for the replies, now off to burn through battery #1 to learn this thing!

The link is provided in the menus (spanner - page 1 - 'online manual' then 'url display') and this will give the correct 'dest' value for the camera.  Mine uses 'dest=GN' in place of 'EG' not sure what is different in the manual
