Re: Looking to get into Fuji for street.

Sorry to post on an old thread. Just curious, did you manage to find something to your liking? I’m going to try myself tomorrow an X-A10 for street photography and low light as well. Generally fits my needs as it’s within budget, it’s compact and has a tilt screen to shoot from different angles with ease. Has all the basic film sims. No need for a viewfinder or a hotshoe. But I am worried about autofocus in lower light as it will be mainly used in such a case. Will be careful with that when trying it. Also concerned with physical feel and build quality. I’ve already tried an X-A1 that I didn’t like in hand. Felt too plasticky with a mushy on/off switch that wasn’t always responsive. The X-A10 is supposed to be even more plasticky. So have to see that as well. If it doesn’t work for me I’d have to go higher end to
X-E or X-T line, at which point I’d prefer getting a Canon m200 with 22mm f2 lens.

X-E3. You can get for between €300 and €450 used in good to excellent condition. The 27f2.8 is small - but prone to flare whenever a bright light is outside the field of view. Careful! Fuji AF is snappy - no question. But not always reliable. Depends on the lenses you use. My recommendation would be a set of three primes to start with: 16f2.8, 35f2 and 50f2. Instead of the 16f2.8 you can also get the 14f2.8.

Tally ho, sorry for the slow reply myself.
I'm not sure when this post was in regards to my gear choices.  For the last few years I've used an olympus EM5ii for my main digital shooter.  I may use it for street work but also use a pentax ME super (worlds smallest production SLR) and an Agfa Optima Flash, both film cameras.  The fuji cameras just don't fit my hands well, my hand goes over where the right strap lug is and it huts on most models, so I've just skipped moving towards fuji though I'd still like to find something for occasional street use, I just can't justify it for now.

Has it been five months since I posted this?! Time sure does fly. Well I did finally get a Fuji X-A10 (with 23mm f1.4 R) for low light and street shooting. I like it better than the X-A1. The thumb grip sits higher on the body and the whole experience is more comfortable. Lens is kinda slow on this body but fine for casual shooting. Beautiful lens too.
