website for marine life identification

Is there a website you guys can point me towards a website I can use to help me identify creatures I have imaged?

I was out this past weekend and I captured a few creatchers on my dives on the coast of Southern California USA.

sand dollar

Florents

https://reefguide.org/

It doesn't list everything I've seen, and some of the photos are sketchy, but it's pretty quick and it has a lot of information.

That said, the frustration of trying to find some of the more obscure stuff led me to order a set of books by Paul Humann and Ned Deloach.

Check out iNaturalist (https://www.inaturalist.org/) It is an awesome site. Their Android app gets a lot of use from me and my wife.

Thanks for the info. I will create a profile and start using it. I'm super excited to turn every dive both a scientific dive and a dive against debris dive.

Thanks for the info Craig1555!

In November 2019 I saw a fish that I had never seen in 20+ years of (free)diving in Egypt and could not identify it. Then I received an answer at inaturalist.org https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/37867655

Nice! I'm happy to hear you found an answer on iNaturalist. In my mind they are one of the best resources on the web.

Awesome. I've been using iNaturalist since Craig reccomended it to me and it's been a wonderful addition to my organism ID.
