Scuba Diving in Roatán, Honduras - July 2019 (4K)
2

In July 2019, we spent two glorious weeks in Roatán with no kids, diving the South Side with Barefoot Divers, the East End with Dive Pangea and the West End with Jackson's Dive Centre. We logged 15 dives at a variety of sites that included Tortuga, Calvin's Crack, Coco View Wall, Labyrinth, Dolphin's Den, Jumping Jack, Divemaster's Choice and the Barefoot Palapa, among others.

We also enjoyed a dive at our very own site, named D2T after the divers in our family (Doug, Deb and Téa). The site is halfway between Lita's Hole and Shark Bait Shallow at the entrance to the Mahoghany Bay inside channel. All underwater video was shot on a Panasonic DMC-LX100 in an Ikelite housing and all topwater video was shot on a GoPro Hero 7 Black.

Really nice!  I certainly recognized Calvin's Crack among the dives.

Tell me more about the macro videos, and how you kept the camera stable.

Thanks Craig! I am shooting a Panasonic LX100 in an Ikelite housing with the standard flat port and a flip adapter. I mainly use a CMC-1 and often stack one or two UCL-165's for the really small stuff. I have a homemade quadrapod that is fashioned from some old ball arms. I bolted two 4" arms perpendicular to my camera tray and clamped 4 8" tubular arms on to that. It is not easy to set up but, with practice, it gives good results! Note that I only use this for critter crawls / muck dives.

You should go on a couple of dives with David at the Reef House Resort.  He is amazing at finding critters, and he has about 20,000 dives experience in the dive sites around Oak Ridge.  And there are lots of dive sites there.  I've been to at least 37 different sites there in the past 4 years.
