The 12-24mm will work fully with a k-1. It just won't cover the full frame, though it will come close at around 20mm.

As long as your crop mode is AUTO or aps-c then everything will work including lens corrections for vignetting and distortion. The camera will then simply use a aps-c crop section of the sensor to record your image.  Roughly around 15 MP

I use my DFA 28-105 a lot in APSC mode if I need a little more reach on the long end that equals 157.5 mm in APSC terms, with some really good results . But you will loose the full sensor resolution. You end up with about 15 megapixel.  So any APSC lens will work on the  K-1

Just use FF mode and crop if and when required to your liking, many DA lenses will go bigger than the crop mode.

For example, the HD DA 20-40 f2.8-f4 Limited works on full frame from 23mm-37mm without hard vignetting and the IQ is amazing. Therefore you'll get more out of your DA lenses although some like the DA15 not so much.

PentaxForums has a FF compatibility chart for every DA lens grading them from A - D, even zooms at varying focal lengths.

Oiche is right . But one thing I noticed with my Sigma 10-30 mm in full frame mode it covers the field of view from 17mm-20mm but the corner sharpness and distortion are terrible. So better stick with Pentax DA lenses.

Super. Now the 12-24mm seems ok at 18mm and 23mm is this in full frame terms? 18mm in APSC is about 27mm in full frame equivalent.

It is in terms of mm of focal length 18mm is 18mm whatever format you use it on.

If you have been told the 12-24 lens works ok on FF between 18-24, then at those FL it covers the FF sensor.

The only advantage of APS-C mode in K1 is higher burst rate and smaller image sizes. If this is not critical for your work, I would shoot in FF mode and crop afterwards.

Best regards

Unless he wishes to use lens corrections for a DA lens , which are only registered when the camera is used in aps-c mode (with a few exceptions)

Yes 23mm - 37mm on FF without hard vignetting, you will still have normal vignetting and more pronounced than a FF lens and varies with focal length and aperture. I think 30mm is the best FF coverage bang in the middle of the zoom range and obviously stopping down helps get rid of normal vignetting too. You probably will have to crop slightly to get totally rid of vignetting too depending on focal length.
