Super "medium" Tele Lens

The Canon EF 135mm 2.0 L USM is super sharp, has great contrast, very good colors, it focuses very fast, has a good close focus of 90 cm. I have used it a lot for butterflies and dragonflies with and without the 1,4x extender with great results. I can highly recommend it.

It sounds like a great lens.  I have shopped for it quite a bit.

Sadly it is not on sale.  I compared the 135mm to the 70-200mm f/2.8 which was on sale and could only get one or the other.   I went for the zoom for my use needs.

For price/value its the #1 L-lens to get. Enjoy.

A legend, a great medium distance event is a walk around festival in open spaces, mat sports, stellar portraits, can do amazing still life to with that .90 m min focus distance.

IMHO it has the best native color palette in the Canon line up - 100 macro # 2, 70 - 200 # 3 for me .

135 F2 BIF

It seems like one can point this lens at anything and something special will happen.

I agree 100% with that and other people's remarks. I also sometimes use it with the 1.4 TC. The EF-L 400mm f/5.6 is another favorite.

B&H has a used one on sale, condition = 9. Also Adorama has a used one but in lower condition. It looks like the new version is in stock at both places but not on sale. I bought a used one from B&H some years ago and am very happy with it.

I used the Canon EF 135mm 2.0 L USM for many years and I have been VERY happy about it, but now I use Sony A7R4 with Sony FE 135 1.8 GM which has a close focus of 70cm (ratio 1:4) almost real macro, which it certainly is in APSC mode (26 megapixel). The Sony 135mm is sharper with more contrast and stronger colors than the Canon 135mm, so if you are thinking of  a mirrorless, go for Sony !
