Canon 800D - shutter deterioration?

I've had the Canon 800D for about 16 months (new) and it has taken around 130,000 photos in that time. It has also survived a fall off the back of a slow moving car (April) and another more recent drop when I was getting out of the car (last week) so it's just about time for a new camera I think.

After the latest drop I seemed to get some shutter failure (something black appearing over a corner of the photo, which moves around if I shake the camera a bit) and all the photos seem to have this strange reflection or deformity across the top. Has anyone come across it before? Does anyone know what causes it?

Basically wondering is it new camera time this week, or something I can manage for a few weeks/month until I make my mind up on what to upgrade to.

ANSWER:
Canon EOS Rebel T7i / EOS 800D / Kiss X9i

Hmm, having a look at the shutter action with no lens on the body, it appears that the shutter is not completely closing which might be causing that?

I don't know...but if I were you I would take it to a camera repair store. Or just buy a new one, if you didn't want to spend the money for the repair.

The shutter is worn out. In that camera, shutter is rated for about 50,000 photos. So you’ve gotten a lot out of yours.

If you bought it with a credit card that doubles the warranty then you may be able to get it repaired with the credit card warranty even though it has been heavily used.

I am not sure if the camera having been dropped would be a problem with that if the issues did show up right after it was dropped.

130K shots is a LOT of shots for a T7i, considering that it is considered an "entry-level" body by Canon. The issue you are seeing is that one of the shutter blades no longer works properly, and is causing light leak. I have seen that many times with broken shutter cameras. Considering that your camera is a T7i, and you admit to have dropping it twice, I would recommend that you consider you got your money's worth, sell it for spares or repair, and purchase another camera.
