Wildlife from the park and Wako
3

It's been awhile since I've posted any pictures (?), so I figured it was about time I did. I've been on vacation and pretty quite for the past 2 weeks. Here are a few pictures from my local park and a few from wakodahatchee wildlife wetlands taken earlier today. I just don't feel right if I don't post a few pictures once or twice a month.

A gator, wish it had a turtle in its mouth :/ (Wako)

A basilisk lizard at the park. I liked the light and background colors.

A few Anhingas at the park close to sundown.

A turtle at the park balancing on a rock, as they do all the time, for some reason.

An Iguana in a tree. It looks like it has been in a fight or two.

An Egret looking for something to eat, at Wako today.

A Grackel, I just liked to colors and reflections in the water.

Another Anhinga trying to dry out. I kinda liked the sign in the picture, at Wako.

An Osprey at the park. It was an extreme crop.

A few HUGE staghorn fern in Sarasota where I was for the past two weeks, shot with my POS 16-50 kit lens. It was the last time I used that lens since getting my 18-135 over a year ago. Looking out the front door of my moms house. That is the biggest staghorn fern I've ever seen, it weighs about 350 pounds!

Questions or comments always welcome. Thanks for looking.

Snapa,

Welcome back.  I guess you got bored enough to travel up here to Wako - should of given me a call as I might have popped over on Sunday.  I guess next weekend!

That osprey is a big crop indeed.  I like the bathing grackle - as you say because of the reflections and colors in the background water.

Funny, I didn't make Wakodahatchee this weekend - I was intending to do both, but ended up walking around Green Cay twice, and got slowed down with some sightings, so by the time I was leaving it was too late to do Wako as well...I headed home for a jump in the pool and shower before going out Sat night.

Yep, I got so bored, we (Lillie & I) went on a guided tour at Fern Forest Nature Center about 15 minutes south of Wako. That was the most boring & void of ANY wildlife, I'll never go back there again. Since I was still bored, we decided to take an unplanned trip up to Wako, and shesuggested it!

Depending on the weather, I'll most likely go up to Green Cay & Wako next Saturday. Rain chances right now are at 40% right now.

Yeah, sometimes the backgound/forground is almost as interesting as the subject.

It's probably just as well you only made it to Green Cay, besides the gator and the Iguana, and a few of the regulars, it was pretty quiet out there.

BTW... thanks for your comments Jose and Dave! Glad you found something interesting.
