Besides your photos, I like elections.

Ya think maybe you could take a few action shots. And, by all means, selfie your ballot, if the officials don't mind. But, the lines are always interesting, and etcetera.

Can't take shots of ballots.  Feds got no sense of ha-ha.

How's baby granddaughter? I'm betting she'll solve "pi." Or, run you ragged.

Baby granddaughter (5 of 5 in that family) is growing and doing well thanks.  We're busy but not being run ragged.

Wonderful shots and really like the second one with the bright colors and beautiful flowers. I didn’t think is was over saturated and probably would have boosted the color in the other two. However as you indicated we have different perceptions and taste in color.

Mina

Thanks Mina.  The lines in this shot are strong too.

I hope life is treating you well.

Well, at this link I read:

She likes black; she says it looks professional.  Le gusta el negro; dice que se ve profesional.

Must be a conspiracy.  The Spanish speaking people don't respect American sensitivities and just keep using their own language.

Must be a conspiracy. The Spanish speaking people don't respect American sensitivities and just keep using their own language.

"Le gusta lo negro." Adjectival residual "lo," used after the establishment of the universe of discourse.  "(3d person pronoun) likes black."

That someone would mail a seemingly unrequested item is a dog whistle.  My great grandfather, born around 1856, grew up speaking this European language.  We are indigenous to this side of the great puddle.  Under our Spanish charter, our relationship to the Spaniard, and other European castes, were governed by the Recopilación de Las Leyes de Los Reynos de las Yndias, a 1580's compilation of laws governing the relations of indigenous peoples in the Americas, before independence from them, around 1820.

The unitedstatesian war against Mexico, and subsequent theft, changed the sovereignty, which was governed by US v Percheman, 1835 which governed the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, and effectively moved indigenous rights into their own.

Whoever sent Bill that knew that an isolated, unrequested communication would establish the universe of discourse.  I'd be leary of blanket statements.

Here's one which puzzles a lot of people; "Only a woman can be a spokesperson for a group of women."  The gender-specificity of the Romance languages confuses many people especially if the uninitiated think of it in terms of sex and not gender.

The New Mexico constitution requires that laws are written in Spanish; 1912 Convention.  But, NM also dropped the ball when it came time to recognize Indian Pueblos.  Most Chicanos today recognize their biracial origins and they opt out of the "Spanish Myth." The period between 1850 to 1920 brought the romantic perception of things European/Spanish to New Mexico.   With that the rich began the "Preservation of Spanish Heritage," and the New Mexico Historical Society.  All were aimed at ignoring the indigenous contribution, excluding the fact that the Pope legalized marriages between the indigenous population and Spaniards, thus creating a new raza.  The "Mestizo" nation of Mexico was born.  When the US arrived here, they wanted to recognize everything else except Mexicans.  Things don't change; do they?

Really, I should be speaking Tewa/Hopi.

Thank you for asking David and all is well.  Some close family members have been experiencing some health challenges but things are gradually improving.  Before I go to bed and when I rise I look in the mirror and smile because I have so much to be thankful for.

I truly hope all is well in your world and thank you for continuing to brighten our days with your lovely photos.

Sincerely,

Mina

Black is Negro in Spanish and many products have both English and Spanish or another language on their products because they are selling to more than one group of people.  The whole package was in both English and Spanish.  I don't feel offended by it because living in California you see a lot of Spanish/English packaging.  I know longer identify with the term Negro anyway Lol.

Thanks for caring Bill, I appreciate it.

Re: To get it rolling

I especially like the last one too.  I don't get to see a lot of color in the desert (some in the spring) so when I'm traveling or view color like this, I really enjoy it.

Nice set Bill.
