Since I've never been, I have to ask, are those lovely turquoise buildings actually that color? If so, do you know what they use to make that pigment?

Thanks for sharing.

Hi Bill,

there are several theories but no one actually knows why the early inhabitants started painting the houses blue. Only houses in the "old town" section are painted blue.

Chalk based paint is used and there are various shades of blue.

I like your choice of composition. It adds a dynamic quality. Lovely tones, hues and textures, as well. Thank you for sharing.

Drawing out silk threads from cocoons in China on 100+ years old machinery.

I've taken other photos, better technically, but this one I just love.

Rome 2018

From my Rome visit last year.

I used the 18-55 all the time on my XPro1 expect in the evenings where I used my X100T.

The new 16-80mm would had been perfect for this trip I think, a bit wider.

This is one of the must city's to see before you die, so much to see there but the amount of tourists during the summer month are staggering and the waiting time to get in at different attractions very long.

The photo with Pope Francis is heavily cropped

Thanks for sharing. What a beautiful city. Have you, by chance, been to Montreal? Mary Queen of the World Cathedral was built in the late 1800s as a smaller scale version of St. Peter's Basilica.
