Re: Impossible to choose only one...............

All are very nice. I love the geometry of the wake and waves in the first photo. The last photo is so light and airy. Where is that?

Re: Blue X-T20 + 18-55

Since I've never been, I have to ask, are those lovely turquoise buildings actually that color? If so, do you know what they use to make that pigment?

Thanks for sharing.

Sorry - I should have added the shooting data, etc...

I use the absolutely superb (free) batch conversion software - IRFANVIEW - but when creating JPG's from TIF files, any EXIF data gets stripped.  It's just the nature of the software.

Shooting information:

AWB, RAW, manual mode, F6.3 and 1/125 sec - at ISO 800.

Flash used was the Sunpak rebadged Fuji EF-42 flash (TTL mode) in bounce mode and the Gary Fong Lightsphere attached - hand-held with IS engaged obviously.  We were in such a tight spot that I was shaking as I pushed back to get the amount of her face/upper body I needed.  In addition, she was such a gorgeous bride (I know, I know...I'm a dirty ole' man).

Re: Share a Favorite Photo Made with the 18-55

Fantastic! Thank you for telling the story of the photo. It illustrates the fun of sometimes walking around with a small zoom of moderate range. There's room to get creative with composition, settings and technique. If it doesn't work, oh well, it was worth a go. But when it does work, the result is a keeper and very satisfying.

Thank you for sharing these, Kyle. Christmas in Paris...must have been magical. The expressions, when capturing a person unawares in a genuine moment, are a great reward.

This one ended up in Seattle Met magazine. I would argue the 18-55 gets plenty of love here. In fact so much so that people mistakenly buy it over the 16-55. The most recent threads about it were specifically about the volume of hype the 18-55 gets vs its actual performance.

No one believes it is a bad kit lens. It is just important to keep people's expectations more grounded and realistic.

Hi, great idea for a thread. It gets plenty of 'love' here. That said, I do have the 16-80 on pre-order, because I wanted WR and a wider FL. However, when I reviewed some images after the bashing this lens has recently taken, including from our hiking trip in Switzerland this August, I am perfectly satisfied with its real World performance.

Arundel Estate. Just bought into Fuji-land; XT10 + 18-55. F8, ISO 200, 55mm

Moving on three years from XT10 to XT3:

Lauterbrunnen Valley. F8, ISO160, 25mm.

Above Wengen; local resident saying something to us tourists! F3.6, ISO160, 31mm

Again, cattle above Wengen. F4, ISO160, 48mm

Murren looking across the Lauterbrunnen Valley to the Eiger. F8, ISO160, 18mm

As a travel and hiking lens, a versatile lens, I am very satisfied.

It's hard to choose one favorite photo made with my 18-55, but here's one of my more recent ones. I initially disliked the 18-55 but quickly came to love it after one magical day taking photos of orchids at the New York Botanical Garden's spring orchid show this past year.
