I've been using Foxit Reader for years.

Several web browsers can read .pdf files, but if you want a standalone program see this:

Nice to know, thanks for following up.

Not in my experience. My Firefox on both Windows and Linux can read PDF, though maybe not as well as Foxit. For example, string search is not reliable.

I believe Chrome uses the same PDF viewer, pdf.js (in Javascript).

Another problem with Adobe PDF viewer is excessive updates, often due to security patches. Foxit probably updates less frequently.

There's nothing wrong with Adobe Reader or Acrobat other than some internet trolling.

There isn't a piece of software out that hasn't been susceptible to some type of security issue at one time or another. We just tend to focus on the "big names". And when these big names have minor issues they're turned into mountains of sensationalism due to their names and the headlines they can garner.

Nothing wrong with Adobe Reader. And millions of people throughout the world still use it. I myself use the full Adobe Acrobat version.

That might be. However, I changed to Foxit reader like 10-15years ago. At that time Adobe reader became huge in size and incredibly slow at opening pdfs, bringing my pc to a crawl. So I started searching for something better (read faster, smaller, more efficient) and stumbled over Foxit reader. I've been using it happily ever after, and at the same time avoiding anything Adobe if I can.

Foxit is always one of the first pieces of software I install on new builds.

I'll take Adobe Reader in a heartbeat over those other third party unknowns. Still using Adobe Reader on my Backup machine. Use Adobe Acrobat on my main system.

And there isn't a large corporation that doesn't get the "we hate your and you're buggy" internet scowl - Adobe, Microsoft, Norton, so...

Peace:)

Same here.

Had few co-workers that had Foxit installed. It was very unstable and our AP system did not work with it so I installed Reader DC to them and no problems since.

Most of the time Edge reads and creates .pdf "just fine", but it has trouble printing long and complex documents. In-built .pdf creation from MS-Word is also a real convenience (invokes Edge when Save as... is accessed).

I have Adobe Acrobat DC (ver. 2019) on one computer If Edge ever refuses to print. Acrobat DC was free and seems quite comprehensive. It may not be free any more.

As far as I know, "Acrobat Reader DC", like all previous "Acrobat Reader" versions is free, but "Acrobat DC", like all previous "Acrobat" versions, requires payment.
I haven't used either for a long time, though, so I could be wrong.
