Looks good to me but aren't you taking the ultra-wide 10-18 lens?

My standard travel lens is also the 16-70/4 OSS which I use probably 80-85% of the time. The ultra wide Zeiss Touit 2.8/12 handles the rest and also my iPhone XS. I take it that the 35/1.8 is for low light/indoor photography? The one that I take for low light is the Zeiss 24/1.8.

Have a great trip!

José

Where in Asia are you going?

The 10-18 can really come in handy on narrow streets / inside small temples, etc.,

Well, if it were me, I would definitely take the 10-18. But that is because I like to shoot a lot of architecture and the streets can be narrow and because sometimes you have to get closer to a temple than you might want because you have to get between the temple and various people / power lines / motorcycles / rabid dogs / ugly signs than you might want.

Bring a decent (but lightweight) tripod and be prepared to use it as a "camera on a pole." There might be times when you want to shoot OVER a crowd of people or parked cars so you will want to put the camera on the tripod and then hold it over your head. Also helps to reduce key-stoning effect when shooting taller buildings.

Sure. But take a look on google maps / street view of the places you are going to go to.

Are they very narrow streets? Is there lots of stuff on the sidewalks?

In some places in Southeast Asia you have to get VERY CLOSE to the subject or there will be a lot of unattractive things in front.

I lived in Bangkok for four years and the widest lens I had was 24mm full frame and I wish I had a wider lens.

But that is only in crowded cities. If you go to the countryside then you probably don't need 10-18.

Re: Travel kit (comment please)

How do you like the FE 35mm f/1.8?  Eventually I'd like to add an a7III to my kit and I was wondering if it would be worth upgrading to it from the APSC 35mm OSS version.

My current travel kit is the a6500 with the 18-105 f/4 and 35mm f/1.8 OSS.  I also bring along my DJI Osmo Pocket and DJI Spark.

When I shoot events I'll also bring bring the Sony 70-200mm f/4 and Sony 50mm f/1.8 OSS and my a6000.

I'd really like to trade in my 18-105 for the new 16-55 f/2.8 but it's so expensive and it's not worth it if I pick up an a7III in the future.

I would personally take a lot more batteries. I travel with five or six, but then they are several years old, so they don't last too long.

The tamron 28-75 f/2.8 is around US $880, making it about $500 less that the 16-55 f/2.8. Although a bit of an odd focal length on aps-c, you could get it and be prepared IF you move to full frame.

They hybrid shooter had a good comparison about the difference between the a7 III and the a6400, and many of the comparisons would apply to your a6500:
