A Cracking Lens

Weather sealed and f2.8..

Equivalent to 24-78mm on full frame so covers 24, 28, 35, 50 & 78mm and all focal lengths in between.

Lots of glass so fairly heavy, but worth carrying the weight because the sharpness is absolutely superb. Can check the MTF charts for this lens on the Fuji website. Has an aperture ring so one has total control of the aperture used, unlike the 18-55.

There;s no doubt in my mind that this a first class lens if you want tack sharp photos.

My sentiments exactly. Thanks for your review. Funny that in the US, Cracking has a slightly different meaning! I thought your lens was cracking - breaking.

Small note, the 18-55 also has an aperture ring.

Re: A Cracking Lens

"Cracking" for good is a bit of an archaism even in Northern England!

Yes, this is a really good lens and has an aperture ring with markings, which is probably what the OP meant.

There is a bit of colour fringing which irritates.

Agreed. I didn’t write that at all well did I? I was trying to say that whilst the 18-55 can change the aperture by itself to a setting other than that set by the aperture ring when its zoomed, the 16-55 stays as set. Thanks for your comment.

I clicked in to fancy a picture of a lens with broken glass, saw this?!

Re: 'Cracking'  That's a word I use fairly often in the same context as the originator.

I also agree with the general sentiment expressed about this lens. I love mine.

Yes indeed. I looked up cracking in the dictionary and there was a photo of the 18-55.
