Confused between two dslr

I am a newbie to this forum and also do not know much about DSLR.

I am an Amateur mobile photographer, trying to get a DSLR. I live in india, I capture both video and photos. I have finalised two cameras within my budget (Rs.50000) SL2 (200d) and T7i (800d).

I have done lot of research and found out 800d is better with more focus points and burst buffer rate, light metering etc.,

But what I am confused about is, a well reputed camera store nearby sells 800d  (Rs.45000) less than 200d (Rs.49,800) difference is about Rs.4000 (about 55usd).

So I can get 800d right, but I cannot decide.

200d comes with two kit lenses with 18-55mm STM and 55-200  STM 800d comes with just one that is 18-55 STM.

Should I go for 200d get both kit lenses not worry about a new lens for about a year or more.

Or

Should I go for 800d and  stuck with 18-55 lens till I save up for my next lens for a long time.

Can someone help me out.

I would go for double lens kit + 200d= more fun.

Kit lenses price is unbeatable.

As you can see, no capability difference, only 200d has wifi, which is good for social networks sharing

Did you ask if they could order you a Canon T7i (800D) camera with the two kit lenses for a good price?

Get the 200D II, the only benefit of 800D is the buffer for 25 raws and a faster fps burst. The 45-pt AF is useless without a joystick in real life.

Some Pros of 200D II over 200D:

1. Better LV AF (with spot AF point, continuous Eye AF in still & video, can focus at really really dark).

2. Clean HDMI out for both FHD & 4K (you can use external recorder to get 10-bit 4:2:2 or live stream)

3. 10 RAW+ Jpeg buffer vs 5 in 200D. With CRAW (avg. file size 10MB), with Sandisk Extreme Pro 170/90MBps card, buffer increase to about 20+ CRAW+L JPEG.

Cons of 200DII over 200D:

1. No 24fps in video - Doesn't matter sh!t ! 25/30fps works great.

2. No central hotshoe pin, only little cheap flashes will not work. Those 3rd party flashes/radio triggers with 2.5mm jack works perfectly fine.

I have done lot of research and found out 800d is better with more focus points and burst buffer rate, light metering etc.,

See above, for 800D. I had it, sold and got the 200D and then when 200D II came out, I sold the 200D and got the 200D II. Once you have gained experience, light metering doesn't matter a bit, you'll know what you do!

But what I am confused about is, a well reputed camera store nearby sells 800d (Rs.45000) less than 200d (Rs.49,800) difference is about Rs.4000 (about 55usd).

200D in my opinion has better value than the 800D. Even if 800D have 45-pt AF, it doesn't have AFMA like the xxD has. So, when shooting f2.8 or brighter lenses, some lenses are not accurate, because of which I use LV. I do not regret a tiny bit when I trade the 800D for 200D.

200d comes with two kit lenses with 18-55mm STM and 55-200 STM 800d comes with just one that is 18-55 STM.

55-200 STM is fun to use, but nothing good in serious thing, but very good for walk around and casual use.

Should I go for 200d get both kit lenses not worry about a new lens for about a year or more.

Or

200D II - my personal recommendation.

Should I go for 800d and stuck with 18-55 lens till I save up for my next lens for a long time.

Also, the RAW of 800D in lightroom is very dull and washout with harsh orange-red and green colors. It's similar to 6D II. 200D & 200D II have more pleasant raw to work with like the older 80D/70D.

No offense mentioned,  but it is like someone tells that the steak is well done, medium or rare, when still RAW ( not cooked)

I know that well, it's RAW and can get you anywhere you want to. I am referring to the base starting point, then the amount of work one needs to do to get to the wanted result . it's mostly due to how Lightroom renders it but there is no difference at all using Canon's own DPP.

But as you know, since most use LR, it's not a great experience when you have to take the longer way to get to what you want and when you mixed bodies in a shoot, you can't even use the same preset for quicker workflow in multiple processing.

Yes, in PAL mode, 25fps is available. 30fps in NTSC.

77D is just the 800D with a top LCD plate and a thumb wheel. No difference other than that. It's not even considered an xxD series, weird how it got into xxD lineup with no weather sealing, ruggedness, larger battery and AF precision settings.

Canon should have just named it something like 810D or something like they did with 750D & 760D.

I don't know what the used camera market is like in India but for someone trying to move up from mobile phones to a DSLR you should really consider getting a used camera.

For a long time I have bought used or refurbished equipment and that has allowed me to get a lot of equipment that I could not otherwise afford.

I just upgraded from a T3i (600D) to a 77D and there are not a lot of dramatic differences in the image quality. For someone buying their first DLSR a used T3i (600D) like I had would be find for photos.  I never shoot videos so I do not know if the video quality would be good enough for you.   For photos anything with 18 Megapixals would be plenty for your first DLSR,  You could also look at all the other models in between to see what is available.

As far as the image quality the Canon kit lenses are actually fairly decent even though they are not as good as some more expensive lenses. A lot of what makes some of the lenses a lot more expensive is that they are more durable, weather sealed, or have a faster aperture.

Re: Confused between two dslr

I live in place where DSLR's are not so important as long as mobile camera exists. Hence I cannot rely buying used camera here. I am not sure I can even get a new camera where I live. I have to go my home during holidays to buy a new camera. I am not so sure about used one. That's why going for a new one.

But people say that 200d built quality is not as good as 200d. That one comes with single kit lens only at much higher price than 200d and 800d.

I don't use Lightroom to edit images that I capture in mobile. Either I use Snapseed on the go. Photoshop which I am comfortable with.

Then 200D II is perfect for you, it has the latest realtime transfer to phone feature. Once you paired up with Canon Camera Connect app on your smartphone, the moment you clicked, it's transferred to your phone.  None of 200D, 800D, 77D have that.
