My wife and her true love

The subject line is joking — but only a little.  This is my wife and Miss P just after sundown.

Taken on my ranch near Steamboat Springs, Colorado www.lajoyadulce.com

First 2 are a6500 with 85 1.8.  Third is Nex 7 with 10-18 (if I recall correctly).

I took this picture casually with my 35mm lens while waiting for a bus in Jiufen, the town that inspired Spirited Away.

I wish that I had shot this a bit wider or more level at the time, as I ended up having to crop away some of the building detail when correcting orientation.

Another iconic Cleveland sign

This is in the Tremont neighborhood. There are about a half dozen of these scattered around town. Now I only have one more to get and that is at Euclid Beach. Maybe tomorrow.

Dog portrait
5

Finally took the plunge and bought a background system. So far I only have one backdrop but it'll be enough for now to practice with. Also got a grid for my Caruba Orb softbox. Going out to shoot isn't always very practical for me (though I should get out more) so having a small home studio is perfect.

Had a quick session with my dog to try out the kit and here is the best shot from the session.

Before I bought the background system (and grid) I also had a little fun with some inanimate objects.

This is an old magic trick I inherited quite some time ago. It's capable of making the coins disappear.

Squeaky toy that has quite an attitude when looking right at it.

Epcot night shots at Blue Hour
5

I never got around to posting some nighttime scenics I snapped around Epcot Center on my trip in June - I just went through my shots from September, and figured this thread was a good spot to put up these from June - for anyone who likes night photography handheld - no tripod or anything with me on these hot summer trips, so all shots are handheld using HDR in-camera to stack 3 shots at higher ISO and keep noise down, while also helping expose the bright lights and dark night shadows:

Starting at the Italy pavilion - this is looking down one of the halls outside of the main shop

Inside the Via Napoli restaurant, they have three wood-burning pizza ovens named for the three most famous volcanic peaks in the country

The restaurant from the outside, as blue hour was just hitting the skies

Blue hour dusk, facing the last fading light, in the Italy pavilion

The American Pavilion's main building, looking up from the fountains

The main shop and restaurant building in the Japan pavilion

Japan's pagoda, all lit up at night and backed by blue hour sky

The Torii gate on the waterfront, looking across to Spaceship Earth, Epcot's main symbol.  This one appears to be a copy of a well known torii in Honshu, Japan

Tower and fountains in the Morocco Pavilion

Looking over the fountain and into the Morocco pavilion, all lit up

The fountains at the France Pavilion

Dog-walking with the 85mm f1.8 FE

just a few shots of the local countryside I enjoy while out with the hound...

yes, the horizon is a bit squiffy in this shot, the pooch decided he didn't like microlights and tried to leave (taking me with him, in the next shot the horizon was at 45 degrees)

Cheers

Birds and Flowers

Probably one of my last visits this year to the Urquhart Butterfly garden. Aside from the odd straggler, most butterflies are gone. But there are still some birds and flowers.

The Cormorants are invading the floating islands meant for ducks and geese

I was able to capture these pics after the 10th try, as these birds are so sensitive to sound and human, they'll fly away the moment they see someone nearby within 10 yard.

Looks like you made good use of the E 10-18/4. It certainly works well wide open.
