Hello Mistral75

Thank you for the pictures ! ... I could found now with this pictures where the LV switch is

When you compare the diopter, it's like at the K1, so I think we get the overlay OVF like a K1 has.

best regards. KPM2

That looks like a nice camera with lots of buttons. Didn't we read that it was for the second half of 2020? So plenty of time for waiting and discussing.

It's hybrid viewfinder finally, hopefully. Pentax already had some patent related to this if I'm not wrong. It's their chance now stay DSLR but with features from mirrorless. Looking forward to hybrid viewfinder and better video features to be implenented in K-1 successor in 2021 after being thoroughly tested in this cam as I'm only interested in full frame. But hope that APSC-S lens owners will have great time with the new machine once it finally arrives in 2020, hopefully.

Product name: TBD

・ The highest model of our K-mount digital SLR camera with APS-C size image sensor
・ Release date: Under development targeting 2020

Joystick is nice. And if it is touchscreen, then AF mechanism is improved.
Next year is near. And I remember someone complaining that Ricoh doesnt commit to the pentax. Especially those who wish 100 years anniv to be something special.

What to be complain this time ? Maybe is:
"It remain to be seen, if the sensor is as good as or better than that pentax K-5 IIs. I will not upgrade with the sensor noiser than 16 Mpx."

Hate to be 'that guy', but a (fixed) touchscreen and AF-joystick aren't really flagship-level features.

I'm happy that Ricoh decided to finally show us "something", but I'll refrain from excitement until I see actual specs.

Wait until you see the proper speccs.

Both those said--it's a reference model, not written in stone. And I want one <g>

This is one of the things we should change as Pentax users.

We shouldn't want anything new until we know everything possible about it.

The KP's crazy reception is a case in point. It went prematurely negative without informed or legitimate reasons and took two years to even out and be reasonably objective.

Getting too positive poses some of the same problems.

Yes, it's great to see something. Let's see what it actually is next.

Joystick, and IR Release port returns to the back!

Hurrah for both! IR port on back side and green button on back, not top, are top-of-class features.  ISO on top, not on 4-way, is also a top-of-class feature.  K-7/5/3 styling with third top dial.  Beautiful.  This will be very worth the wait.

It won't be a modern camera with a fixed screen, if so then it's a dinosaur.

A bit of credit goes to this forum also :-)

Good news. This will ease the anxiety in many Pentaxians.

Few days back, someone pointed out here in forum discussions (sorry, don't remember who) that by making noise here (complaining, pointing out the distress, etc) may lead to Ricoh taking some action. I think he/she was correct. I do think this is partly a results of on-going discussions here. So, kudos!!

Exactly. That's why it's really important to not have mentally spent anything already - or encourage others to do the same yet.

Agreed. That's my position too.

"targeting 2020" --- hmmmm.. that is nice, don't get me wrong, it is pleasing to see formal discussion from Ricoh on the matter. But that wording tells me they aren't convinced it will even release in 2020.

Definitely doesn't seem like a Q1 or Q2 body release from the looks of it, if the translation is accurate. And they're leaving the door open to maybe not Q3 or Q4 if things don't go as planned!

I agree, and I doubt it will be released in 2020 (I hope they do) BUT they were forced to give an update by their user-base---which is good

Indeed

If they're showing a picture, it means it's coming sooner rather than later.

And what do i see:

1. a JOYSTICK!!!! OK, this means they worked on AF, which is already pretty good, if you have a Kp / K1ii and modern lens. But the joystick was missing for sure.

2. Kp / K1 stype top mode dials, and a big top screen

3. Sensor under the viewfinder

I seriously doubt a foreign forum in English consisting of a Pentaxian 'dirty dozen' 😂 makes it's way into the Pentax boardroom.

Nor PF which is much larger!

Pentax are a fairly autonomous bunch. They do their own thing without much outside influence... Just like me! 😎

IR port on back side and green button on back, not top, are indeed top-of-class features for Pentax . Yes it would be considering they are viewed as great landscape cameras. I would say they will include one but I also think that top LCD is another dinosaur feature you don't need. That came from the film era and before digital LCD screens where you have all the info anyway in one place. They were right in excluding it from the KP keeping it smaller.

Most of the new features on the new body will just be from the K1, KP and K-70 which the K3-ii doesn't have, and the upgraded sensor being the most important over the K3-ii.

Those talking of industry leading AF and video etc. That isn't going to happen so don't be disappointed and if it miraculously does then hip hip hooray 😉

I'm happy that Ricoh decided to finally show us "something", but I'll refrain from excitement until I see actual specs.
