Olympus TG5/6 + FCON-T01...The best VFM for snorkeling!
4

Hi,

I finally found time to process my UW photos from this summer and once again I am really happy with the TG5 and the FCON-T01 wide lens adapter. I consider it absolutely essential for the UW shots I take and the combination of size, speed and IQ is really great!

All photos were PP in LR.

Looked like you had some nice conditions. Great pictures.

I agree the TG-X series is ideal for snorkeling. It's hard to justify anything larger for casual underwater photography. As long as you keep ISO low, IQ is good for a small sensor camera.

I don't use the fisheye adapter as much as I used to. With good water visibility, the normal wide end has been working for me. I used think the 25mm lens wouldn't be wide enough, but it usually provides a functional field if view. If the water is a bit murky and I need to shoot extremely tight, the fisheye lens is a must. You do have be careful and burp the lens to clear off any air bubbles. There have been a few times where the19mm view of the FCON-T01 wasn't wide enough. But I seriously doubt I'll be investing in their new circular fisheye adapter.

Re: Olympus TG5/6 lots of digital noise

By looking the originals I did notice lots of digital noise.

It is possible the camera to have aggressive sharpening algorithm, either way I do not see breathtaking results.

Re: Olympus TG5/6 lots of digital noise

Is the vignetting in the images OOC or is it a PP effect?

In some images it seems a bit lopsided, maybe because of cropping?

Vignetting is of course by me 🙂 so if you don’t like, it’s just my over pp.

Γεια σου πατρίδα!!

Noise becomes visible as soon as you start zooming and cropping, but bear in mind that water wasn’t always crystal clear. Also some noise becomes more visible due to my pp which may be a bit dramatic.
