Some good compositional studies in here. When I returned to photography last year and picked up the Fuji XT20, the first camera I held in 30 years (prior one was a Pentax K1000 at age 13), I spent a week inside the MET museum and shot a lot of statues. I then transitioned to window displays in Manhattan shops, usually at night, to practice with available light and cinematic moods.

I think it really helps to shoot statues and dummies and can eventually transition into a formalized kind of art in its own right. It gives you a humanesque subject form that remains still and allows you to work with the constraints to really hone your perspective of the world.

Keep up the good work brother Fred.

If you want to see some examples of my dummies check these pages below. The MET work I did was too early on and didn't stand the test of time, but was a great initial set of lessons.

Re: Statues

Very interesting statues; a very good example of the limitation of my beloved 18-135mm: to get rid of the background a fast lens would have been needed....
