EFM 18-150 EF-S 18-135 Pic?

Hi all, has anyone got a pic of the two subject lenses mounted on a M series camera for direct comparison of size? I can’t find one anywhere!

Try this site, very useful. I don't have a pic at the moment but I can tell you the size and weight difference is substantial. I used to have the 18-135 on my SL1 and even on that it felt front heavy.I wouldn't entertain it on an M while the 18-150 is available.

I have never tried a 18-135mm, so I can't say. I have read here several times that many think the 18-150mm is a little better.

The STM version of the 18-135mm I owned was excellent,no experience with the 18-150 though so can't compare.

Look at www.the-digital-picture.com.  The site is primarily Canon and they do a pretty thorough and comparison of camera and lenses.

I have both lenses, can do some shots of each on my M50 if you still need it. Obviously the 18-135 will be with the adapter on it.

IME the 18-150 cant touch the 18-135 (mine is the USM Nano) for IQ. Well, it can get close at the wide end but not a chance at the long end.  Plus the 18-135 is of course a stop faster.

Each has its uses though, small and light being the one advantage the 18-150 has, but i only ever use my 18-150 for holidays in sunny places (and didnt bother with it this year).

Re: EFM 18-150 EF-S 18-135 Pic?

This question was also on my mind.  I'm currently using the 18-135 on a 70d and am seriously considering the new M6 with the 18-150 kit lens, but I really don't want to sacrifice quality for size.  If I'm going to do that, I'll go all the way down to the G5x Mkii.

I think I’ll be sticking with the 18-135 for the foreseeable future. One point that crossed my mind was that all lenses I want to use filters on are 67mm, so makes sense.

Is it ?

18-135 = f3.5 - f5.6

18-150 = f3.5 - f6.3

That equals 1/3 of a stop faster as far as i know, not 1 stop. Really 1/3 of a stop is pretty insignificant - both are fairly slow.

Well no, it’s obviously not, it’s a typo. These things happen

I have compared the 18-135 IS USM with adapter on M50 with 18-150. At 18mm, they are virtually identical in sharpness. At 35mm, the 18-135 is slightly sharper. At 50mm, 100mm and the longest end the 18-135 is significantly sharper and the difference gets bigger as the focal length increases. The 18-150 improves a lot when stopped down to f/8 but still no match to the 18-135. Maybe this is also partly due to the copy variation but I am confident that a good copy of 18-135 IS USM will beat a good copy of 18-150. The problems with the 18-135 USM version are the size and weight which is double the 18-150.

Hi

found this on DPR forums a bit back. Edited the cameras in for you.

Camera size has the option. You can add any camera and lens, and adapter too I think.

Re: EFM 18-150 EF-S 18-135 Pic?

Cheers for all the info, I think the 18-135 will be a keeper for me, just waiting on the adapter to turn up. I purchased the 15-45 lei and a second hand 22mm, those with the 18-135 and my 70-300 mk2 should keep me out of trouble for a bit.

Coming from the EF-S Mount I now have a couple of lenses to sit in for a while, those being the 50mm 1.8 and the 24mm 2.8, I don’t think these two will be seeing a lot of use.
