White raven

As soon as I saw him I knew he was special. I feebly tried to get my camera out of the car jammed full with camping gear . When i did get to it the fisheye lens was on it lol .

So desperately searching for the zoom resulted in some frustration.

Of course the camera settings were all wrong and the autofocus decided to die on my well used old sigma lens but I persisted.

There was a few black ravens around they just acted like he was one of them .

Good show!

The blue eyes are as odd as his whitish feathers.

What a great catch. It's not an albino as can be seen by the blueish eyes and scattered dark feathers, it's leucistic -- it has a genetic condition that causes loss of pigment. It's what we see in piebald deer and some red-tailed hawks. Congratulations on getting those photos.

Congratulations on a great find. It is always a bit exciting for me just to see a species for the first time but this far exceeds that. We have a few Melanistic white tail deer in my area but have never seen anything this cool!

Judging by the focal length, it must be very comfortable with your presence.

Re: Have you ever seen wild white ravens

thanks and you are correct i was extremely close at times. in fact i found myself regretting the 170-500 and wishing id put the 55-250 on.  my sigma jams up in rhe tighter ranges . i had to manually focus some of the shots . the one in the tree was the olympus i had with the 150mm . i learned to always keep a camera on my lap in the car .

it was a strange trip.

went to see seals.  no seals

went to see bears .  no bears

went to see eagles ..... no eagles

one white raven and every thing was magic again
