Pictures a bit yellow-ish?

Hi guys,

is it just me or are some of my pictures a bit yellow-ish? I got the X-T100. Maybe it has problems in bright sun light? What do you think?

Shot with the 35mm f2, P-Mode, Auto White Balance.

Thank you!

Re: Pictures a bit yellow-ish?

I see that sometimes in the same conditions with my X-T2 but it was worse with the Nikons that I came from. I've made a small tweak in the auto WB (1or2 steps can't remember) away from yellow and I like it and I leave it that way. Never liked the yellow grass look, and I love the way grass looks in Classic Chrome.

It’s been my experience that when faced with lots if green foliage, the Fuji AWB consistently skews towards magenta. It looks like you’ve got some of that going on here. Another good reason to shoot RAW.

Never seen magenta skies although some of my pics have skies that are a bit more cyan in colour than I like....

I’m not talking about magenta skies, I’m talking about dominantly green scenery with often overexposed ugly reddish foliage and cold, harsh browns.

Which film simulation?

Which film simulation are you using? Color renditions vary -- that's the main point of the film simulatiions.

As a couple of examples, Astia/Soft will produce yellowish foliage, while Velvia/Vivid will produce strikingly green foliage.

On my monitor, the third & fourth pictures look good.

The first two shots and the last shot are pretty easy to fix during post-processing.

Yep.

1- Shooting jpg? Use velvia film setting

2- Shooting raw, subtract a little yellow. Change the "temperature". Use the slider towards blue or away from Yellow.

And yes, your photos are a little soft and yellowish.

On this day I didn't use any film simulations.

You may also wish to check the Color Shift setting to see if it is centered or has shifted. When I purchased a used X-Pro1 I was puzzled about why my images were cooler than expected, and eventually found that the Color Shift had been tweaked toward blue.

The camera's JPEG engine always uses a film simulation. If you didn't set one, it'll use whatever was last used.

According to the EXIF:

Picture #1: Astia
Picture #2: EXIF incomplete
Picture #3: EXIF incomplete
Picture #4: EXIF incomplete
Picture #5: Astia

So they probably all were taken with Astia, which will indeed produce yellowish foliage. Most any other film simulation will give less yellow foliage, and Velvia will give extremely green foliage. Personally, I think Velvia's foliage is surreally green, but an awful lot of landscape photographers like it.

The real lesson here is to pay attention to the film simulations if you're a JPEG shooter. They make big differences in the colors of your pictures. You might find this 12-minute video by Dan Bailey interesting:
