Re: SX50 vs. SX60: Just got SX50 HS ;-)

Great shots and processing.  I also have the SX50 and S110. Both capable machines, but I get a lot more out of the S110 sensor for enlargement. Thanks for posting.

As most here may know, the SX50 gets high praise for it's I.Q.

It's O.I.S. (IS) was very effective, too.

Hi Anayv,

As you have shown many times here in and the Panasonic Compact Talk over the years, taking/ posting these type of images just about any camera can provide great results for their image size.

I guess. Sorry , I make it easy for folk to download , posting smaller sizes

I got tired of messing around with the FZ80 which I got in hopes to use in lieu of the FZ200 with having the R&R of the 1.7 TC combo to have 25-1,020mm EFL.

The overall FZ80 IQ reminds me of the reviews on the FZ100. I gave the FZ80 to one of my grandsons to play around with.

That was one noisy camera (FZ100).  The first using a CMOS sensor, I recall.

Panasonic quickly came out with the FZ150. Briefly owned that one. Clearly the best FZ (with the 1/2.3" sized sensor) I owned , IMHO. Also 12MP

After re-reading the Imaging Resource:
"Best Superzoom 2014: Eight competitors, 2.5 clear winners" ,

I remember reading that. Also recommended it to few folk...but they didn't quite agree with their conclusion. Oh well .

I like the fact that it is a real world outside test.

and looking at many other sample images of the superzoom bridge cameras, when I saw a SX50 HS in "Excellent" condition with a 180-warranty at KEH.com I bought it.

SX50 HS delivered Friday (09/20) but have not been able to use yet; camera is in 'like new' condition.

Congrats!

Great I.Q.  Step up from FZ80....but

Terrible EVF (hope you don't need to use that, and can use the LCD instead).

Also be ready for really slow AF.

Also , no way to make AF box small enough for certain smallish subjects.

Burst mode is only around 2fps, and the EVF/LCD will blank out between shots

Been very please with the overall IQ of all the 12MP (1/2.3" sensor & 1/1.7" sensor) Canon compacts I've used—still have my S110 and G15.

Here's part two ...with more thoughts and SX50 images:

Please note was not being critical in any way. Comment was solely in response to your topic's title "SX50 vs. SX60" which is stating post is comparison between the SX50 and SX60.

The FZ150 was my first Pany. My oldest daughter has it now; still works great.

At the time I began to have a interest in compact digital camera late 1998, there were not that many compact digital cameras. In late Jan 1999 end up getting the
Olympus D-400 Zoom as I was greatly satisfied with the Olympus 35mm film cameras I had.

Interesting. Best for another topic to discuss.

I like the fact that it is a real world outside test.

Ditto. IMO one of the better type comparisons I've seen online.

Great I.Q. Step up from FZ80....but

IMO several steps up 'overall' IQ wise over the FZ80 for 'general' photography use. In good lighting and for the tight crop type shots (using camera-subject distance and zoom to fill the image area) the FZ80 'can' provide some good images.

Terrible EVF (hope you don't need to use that, and can use the LCD instead).

Also be ready for really slow AF.

Thanks, I know. Read reviews and handled the SX50 HS at a store to check it out prior to getting the FZ200. Used several Canon PowerShots. For longer zoom pocketable had the A710 IS and SX130.

I'm still keeping my FZ200. For the price, the SX50HS was a good buy; inexpensive way to have a small/ lightweight camera with 24-1200mm with good IQ.

Cheers,
Jon
