Crop or no crop?

Hi guys!

I've recently bought my first camera, Fuji X T20 and so far I've been enjoying it quite a lot. I have a question. When you take a look at the Instagram feeds of some photographers, they use white borders. Their photos inside those borders are same sized, no matter the perspective, vertical or horizontal. Does that mean that they don't crop their photos? Do they just let it 3:2 sooc and add borders?

I believe Instagram's system is auto cropping member's images at the time of upload and posting, But the system crop is used for a thumbnail image when viewing the members profile. Members can then click the image which reveals a larger or perspective image there after.

Ignore what others do, do what YOU want.

Yes, and I want my images to all be the same size inside those white borders.

Yes. That is what I do sometimes. I extend the image on the long sides with white, then crop it to a square.

Easy to do on your phone with Snapseed.
