Three Best Pentax Cameras
2

Looking back over the years, my three best Pentax Cameras were:

Number one...was my Pentax PZ-1P body. I used this camera shooting slides and prints for years. I knew it inside out and it always was dependable. Plus, it fit me like a glove.

Number 2 was the LX body...although I loved it I never warmed up to it like I did to the PZ-1P. It was durable, flexible and lightweight. It did everything I asked of it. It was a true modular system.

Number 3...my last Pentax was the K50. While I love shooting with it I was always worried the dreaded aperture failure would happen to it. And, it did on my first K50.  I ended up purchasing a second K50 and I still use it. So far, no problems.

So, that is my look down memory lane...

What was your three best Pentax bodies?

Pentax K-50

ME Super, K-5, KP

I considered the *istD instead of the K-5 as it served me well and triggered a lot of future acquisitions

I haven't had so many, but among the ones I've used (SFXn, K-x, K-r, K-7, K-5, and K-30), I love K-30 the most

Probably the Pentax Spotmatic and K-1000 should be in here, but for me, it was the K-20, K-5 and K-3 that were game changers..

K1000 for its simplicity and durability, K-5IIs for its ideal image quality and K-1II for the moment the best Pentax camera on the market!

My fave was an MZ5N, so simple and reliable results.

the next would be my k-30d, I wore out the shutter and had to get it replaced

and finally I’d say my K3ii, love the extra megapixels and the double card slot, but we’re still in the getting to know you phase

Among my only 2 Pentax cameras (so far), I like K-5iis the most.  Will get a K-1ii this X'mas and I hope it won't disappoint.

Re: Three Best Pentax Cameras

I don't think 'best' is the right adjective to use simply because it depends on what you are comparing.  It's clear that the K1 produces the best images, but size wise it clearly is not the best.

My favourite Pentax film camera will always be the MX, since it was a simple small piece of kit that really didn't need much external energy to use.

The Z1 that followed many years later also wasn't bad, but already size and complications were on the up.

At last a digital version slr the K 10 leading  to a K5 and then a K3.....

Each to its own...

A camera body progresses in some ways and regresses in others... More possibilities, more weight.  The Pentax story also features a regression in market share......

Guess we will never be satisfied😥

For me it was my k30 and 18-135 for travel and walkabout .

My favourite was my K3 prestige. Used it for bands with small primes and weddings with Da 16-50 and 50-135 .

sadly my lens stopped AF ins and the K3 got a bit rough after some 200,000 plus pictures

#3: K-30. My first Pentax. Perfect ergonomics, wonderful capabilities. Came to my attention while I was looking to step up to a dSLR when it was featured as "Gear of the Year" by a magazine.

#2: K-3. I missed the reportedly outstanding K-5, but traded in my K-30 for a used K-3. Another game-changer--this camera is always better than I am.

#1: The K-3 replacement when if finally comes out. My list isn't finished yet...

K-2, the original 645, K-1 and.....

a special mention to the K10D for waxing the completion at the time in all the ways that mattered to me.

Perhaps that can be said about all of them......and explains why I bought the first Pentax and stuck with them ever since.

Well for me the best will always be the LX,

Secondly i would go with the K2 despite the changing asa nighmare,

and third would be the K5 since for me was a truly amazing camera when it showed up. Great handling and great sensor.

In chronological order:

Pentax LX: my first "serious" camera which, for better or worse, is the reason I still have a foothold in the K-mount ecosystem;

Pentax *istDS: my first DSLR, compatible with all my left-over K-mount glass from my film shooting days, and which re-ignited my languishing interest in photography;

Pentax K-1: because it's a rugged, imaging beast that delivers the best IQ that I've ever been able to achieve. Dual card slots, flip screen, 5 User Modes, massive DR, usable as a blunt-force weapon, what's not to love?
