Next step is to upgrade?

Hello everyone, i have been thinking to upgrade my camera as i have outgrown it. I have a canon t6 or 1300d with a sigma 17-70 2.8-4 plus 50mm 1.8. I have taken a lot of photos and i think i can continue to something more serious and reliable as i plan to travel a lot this year. My photos are mostly travel and landscapes and long expos. Here  you can see some of my photos.

I was thinking of these alternatives:

1) New 80d with my current lenses plus adding the 10-18 stm

2) New Sony a7 (i or ii) plus buying rokinon 24mm 2.8

3) Used 5d ii or iii but i dont know which lens is good for travelling here (16-35 is too expensive)

4) Just buy the 10-18 and stick with my current setup and spend the money on more travelling.

My budget is 1k to 1.2k euros.  Any suggestion is welcomed.

For everyone that will ask me what im missing right now: Well i dont miss neither faster fps or touch screen - tilt screen or any features like that. The only thing i would like is to upgrade my image quality while having more features would be nice..

Thanks for every upcoming answers.

if you go for the Sony I would try and stretch for the A72, it has the inbuilt stabilization which you I think you will find very useful.

The problem with going full frame is the lenses are expensive. Can you settle for only having one prime lens for your camera?

You seem to be doing very nicely with the gear you have so I think just getting the 10-18 would be the best option. A new body will not make much of a difference to your shots and if you go for a different make or a different system then you have a new learning curve to cope with.

A lot depends on the details of your travel plans.

A classic mistake is to get new camera equipment right before you take a big trip.

Not only do you need to learn the new equipment but if you have a problem with the new equipment when you are traveling getting it fixed can be difficult.

Changing brands and learning the Sony could also take a while, I am sure that they are good cameras but in addition to just being different I have I seen a number of comments about how complicated the Sony menu system is.

Last fall I upgraded from a T3i to a 77D which would be similar to the 80D you are considering. One thing I noticed is that at least to my eyes the noise seems to be a lot better on the 77D and even at ISO 800 I can barely see the noise. I am now shooting at higher ISOs than I used to because the noise seems to be a lot less of a problem to me. You should look at some of the sample images in the tests to see how the noise looks to you.

It is more subtle but the contrast seems to be better too.

I don't know that I would buy a new body just for the image quality but there does seem to be a noticeable difference. I also wanted the better focusing and the higher burst speeds to help me with some shots I had been missing so I had additional reasons to upgrade.

I would be cautious about buying a new 80D now unless you can get a really good deal. At least in the US the prices seem to be dropping because the 90D is being announced soon. I know you are not in the US but in the US they are selling 80D refurbished bundles for less than $700 US and that comes with a years Canon warranty.

A few things that I ran into with the 77D that might also apply to the 80D

1) The reviews for third party batteries were very mixed so I ended up spending more to get a Canon Brand spare battery.

2) I shoot RAw images and I was using an older version of Photoshop Elements. The 77D also uses a CR2 RAW image format but it was a slightly different version which would not work with my old software so I also upgraded that to the new version.

Ok first of all thanks for all replies so far.

The thing is that going full frame (DSLR or mirrorless) I have to change my current walk lens because sigma is apsc only, which ups the budget more than what I want to spend. So I don't know if it's really worth it since I only do this for a hobby.

I have also found a good deal on a new 80d body for 700$ which I think it's nice.

Also I have 2 months until my next trip so I have plenty of time to get used to a potential new brand or body

I think I might go with the option of just buying the 10-18 lens and spend the rest money on another trip, and keep the current body until the 90d is out and price of 77d-80d drop more.

The only think that it's in my head is if going full frame I will see that big of difference making the money I spent well worth it.

Do you have any other recommendations considering travelling style as my first priority?

Thanks

it’s not that . EVERY new camera has to have its raw file adobe profile added to camera raw in order for your adobe software to open it.

so I also upgraded that to the new version.

Re: Next step is to upgrade?

Hello again,

Just a thought I had. As I found out 90% of my photos are taken at 17mm. So what I thought is sell what I have and buy an a6000 with sigma 16mm f1.4.

Do you think it's an upgrade from what I have? Or should I stick to buying only the 10-18 now and upgrading the body later?

Yes

Invest that money into traveling to somewhere you've never been and use your current gear to create a new experience.

Ask yourself, "Is upgrading your current gear going to make you a better photographer? Is anyone going to notice any changes in my image quality by buying a new camera? The upgrade to the 10-18 will certainly allow you to create more compelling images and why I'd go that route.
