T6 vs 77D

Need help please, which camera would be better in terms of image quality.

I am using the T6 with kit lens but will the 77D be a huge jump in image quality. I am not really sure canon makes incremental upgrades in sensors like nikon.

Canon EOS 77D / EOS 9000D Canon EOS Rebel T6 (EOS 1300D)

The 77D has a slightly newer and better sensor than the T6, but we're not talking about a huge difference in quality, the T6 is capable of taking great pictures. Assuming your technique is sound, you probably wouldn't notice much of a difference except in low light situations where the newer sensor and Digic processor make the 77D quite a bit better.

Where you will see a difference is in focusing, viewfinder focusing has a lot more points to focus on, and the live view has the excellent dual pixel autofocus, so it's a bit easier to shoot keepers with either mode. If you do continuous shooting the 77D is twice as fast. I like the controls on the 77D better as well, and once you use a camera with an articulating screen you don't really want to use anything else.

So basically, no the 77D at its core won't take significantly better pictures, but with superior handling and autofocus it might make you more capable of capturing that image.

T6 is ghastly. It might passed for a camera in 2009, but 2019 there are so many other options

In terms of image quality you won't see a lot of difference in bright sunlight (for resized pictures or small prints), but there's just so many other things that the Canon 77D offers (or any other equivalent cameras). Read the specs and reviews on the internet to know the details.

I have the 77d and like it a lot.

But if I was going to buy an APS-C Canon now, I'd wait until the 90d is announced, really soon, and buy that one.

You can look at the test images in the reviews to see how much different the images look to you.

I upgraded from a t3i to a 77D and the 77D does seem to have less noise and a bit better contrast but it is not not a huge jump.  I do find that I tend to use it at a higher ISO now because the noise is less noticeable.

My 77D came in a bundle with the 18-55 IS STM lens which is probably two or three generations ahead of the 18-55 lens that came with my t3i.   The new version of the lens does seem to have noticeably(but not dramatically) better image quality even when tried it on my old t3i.

One thing I forgot. If you are in the US Canon is selling refurbished 80D bundles for less than than the 77D. This is likely because the 90D should be officially announced next week.

Unfortunately, canon only offers these small incremental upgrades across cameras which cost twice as much, in this case i do see better value in nikon which improves sensors I have used nikon before the D3200 superb dynamic range and outstanding image quality but switched to canon for the color science which only canon can give.

Optics wise i felt both nikon and canon are equal only the lens varieties differed

Re: T6 vs 77D

Over five years ago I was using an Olympus DSLR system.  When I switched to Canon I was pleased that the colors were similar to what I was using previously.  I did a test one day with both brands side by side when I hiked up and down Saddle Mountain in Oregon.  I don't have personal experience with using Nikon DSLR cameras or any of the other brands in that regard, but I have heard from various  people that they like the Canon and Olympus DSLR colors.  I have heard that also from some people (in addition to yourself) that they like the Canon DSLR colors over what Nikon has.  I wonder if in the Nikon "camp" that would they like their colors better.  I suppose it's subjective.

77D It Is Not Even a Question...

...if money is the question, refurbished at $558.00.

Here are my last two 77D pictures taken yesterday under very different circumstances.

(the new 90D will be spec heaven...but it will be big....the great benefit of the 77D is that even with the great 15~85 lens on the body, it will fit in a coat pocket...when my 6D was stolen, the 77D was an actual upgrade to me)

just take pictures whatever you decide, and enjoy
