Few thoughts on the Panasonic GH5

Its a "test" unit I bought 2nd-hand, few thoughts having had it a while:-

- Its huge and heavy - the GH4 has the "perfect" size and it more comfortable than the GH5

- I like the GH5 IQ - in PS the images are different to edit than the EM1 II - mainly color

- The screen is very difficult to see in bright sunlight - I like the EVF

- The 2nd card slot does not work - one of the contacts bend - the mem cards has a strange way of locking into position - this could be the reason for the faulty card slot

- Both the G9 and the GH5 are huge cameras - the way I look at them, they build for the pro, not the casual hobby photographers out and about taking pictures....

- I always liked Panasonic camera images, the sharpness, detail & look. Color has always been a bit of a challenge - GH5 & G9 are huge improvements.

- Love the shutter sound - virtually no noise and it feels top quality

As a keen hobby photographer my choice will stay with the EM1 MKII - Olympus managed to put together a winning package in terms of size, weight, image performance and video.

I will continue to try the GH5 a little longer - love to get a better feel for its video.

I bought a Sony A7 III at a great price last week - cannot wait to "test" it.....

I upped the shadows a little in the restaurant area, the RAW was dark.... Even upping the shadows a lot to look for noise I surprised at how good the quality is.

In terms of IQ the GH5 delivers more than enough, it also demands confidence and its reliable.....thats all that counts?
