Windows update 1903 breaks Canon Camerawindow?

A Canon PowerShot G9 X has typically connected through wifi with a WIndows 10 pc, without too much troubles. Every now and then I had to add the camera as new hardware to get things going, and that's it.

However, today things stopped working: the camera connects, and then I need to manually start Camerawindow, which gets stuck on its opening screen, and needs to be force-quit. It looks like the recently installed Windows update 1903 is the culprit here. Does someone out there have similar problems?

Unfortunately, Windows 10 update to v.1903 has caused many people trouble. Supposedly MS is working on some fixes. Why they don't test these "updates" before they release them is unknown. In my case, the computer won't even update to 1903. It goes through a major series of attempts, which take about an hour or more, and several restarts. Then is gives me the message that the update can't be completed. At least I haven't lost any data (so far), which some people have lost.

Make sure you have a good complete backup, or better yet, an image, which is not connected to your computer. I keep two backups on external HDs, one in a fireproof safe, and another backup in the cloud.

Got this back to working order, with a complete reinstall. That is, remove CamerWindow first, and then reinstall.

Good for you! Glad it worked. My problem is more severe, still awaiting resolution.

If you had ever written software you would know there is no real test of software in the outside world except when it is actually rolled out there. A test environment is always just exactly that. You do your very best and then cross your fingers.

I know that MS has had beta testers for many of its updates, etc. Maybe the pool of beta testers is too small, or the test periods too short? It just seems like they should be able to do better.
