Post focus with manual lens?

I have a Panasonic body and was thinking about getting the 7 Artisan macro lens.

As it's a manual lens does that mean you can't use the post focusing system?

Iv been debating about getting a macro lens for ages and 'm trying to get the best for my buck also !

The 30mm macro second hand looks promising it seems to focus like lightning and would be a lot lighter than the 7 Artisan but does the shorter length really matter that much like people say ...??

Would appreciate your feed back .

Cheers.

Post Focus, Focus Bracketing, Aperture Bracketing etc all need AF lens.

Because MF lenses do not allow the camera to spread the possible focus points over a scene (Post Focus) nor to take sequence of images on certain degree of focus difference (shifting front and back in case of Focus Bracketing).

I just take macro shooting for fun and so use an AF extension tube set (to save cost) on my M43 native lenses... Reasonably good result, not the best nor the easiest (because of the very short: virtually zero in case of put 26mm extension tube on 14~45) shooting distance...

Whether or not 30 mm is too short depends on what you're shooting. If it's postage stamps or you live in a very hot climate zone where the bugs are fat and lazy it is probably ok. If you live in a more temperate zone where the bugs are more skittish and paranoid you might have difficulties getting close enough.
