Has anyone tried DIY Hotshoe for Samsung NX Mini

Does anyone know if it's possible to make a small adapter to allow for a hotshoe?

NX Mini does have an area to plug their external small flash but I was wondering if that little connection could be converted to a full hotshoe?

To be honest, that hot shoe connection feature on the Mini is kind of strange, meaning the flip up door stays up when you screw in the flash.  I just don't see anyone jerry-rigging this thing to take a larger flash device.  And if somebody did, it would most likely be the most ridiculous (and ugly) contraption we've ever laid our eyes on

What Samsung should have done was to make the head portion of that little flash be able to move up and down, so you can use it for bouncing techniques at least.  But in the end, the Mini is what it is.  I'm enamored with the superb IQ that it's capable of achieving.

Re: Well....

You are right ofcourse but I was hoping maybe someone figured it out like they did with nikon 1 v1 v2 v3 cameras.

My favorite combination is with Angenieux 25mm 0.95. Then again I'd love to be able to use any flash in manual mode which i cant do. Very strange camera.

Re: Well....

Could you use the camera's built-in flash to trigger an external one with a slave trigger?

You'd need a model that can ignore the camera's pre-flash(es), and a bracket screwed into the tripod bush to mount it. You could turn the internal flash intensity down and/or rig up a reflector so it doesn't affect the image too much.

Why yes, that would be ideal...

Thanks for thinking about that. That is as obvious as they come, and I didn't even think about this with regards to my answer to the OP. This is an ideal scenario where you would use a small bracket, attach a slave flash and have the little flash that came with the NX Mini set it off. Of course, this then makes the entire thing larger than some would want, but it would be ideal, I would imagine for lighting scenarios.

Yes that's true, but I was thinking more of the camera's tiny internal flash, which should be good enough for this.

The other part that I don't understand is the camera's limitation of being unable to take a shot without a lens or fire the flash.

I have bought an adapter which fools the camera into firing with a shutter press using the adapter and a manual c mount lens however the flash will not go off. It's very frustrating.

Essentially the flash will not work outside of their 3 lenses and/or Mini to NX adapter with their Samsung lenses. I have the two common lenses 9 and 9-27 however they are quite slow so I was trying to make use of very compact c mount lenses with fast aperture of 0.95-1.4.

The NX Mini only has an electronic shutter (not a mechanical focal plane or leaf type), doesn't it? That may be related to this problem, and I remember something similar happening with the Pentax Q series...
