The Moon, the Dragonfly and the ...
2

..Rainbow

Almost double rainbow (see faint on left side).

Finding out I can ' underexpose ' a bit with the SX60

First Moon attempt:

Spot metering used. Braced against window sill.

and an even better Dragonfly shot:

Cropped a bit.  Notice only 1/80th shutter .  -1.67EV

It's been three weeks since shooting with the SX60..so I'm still pretty new to using it.

Few thoughts, so far.

I'm under exposing a bit (Dragon Fly is -1.67 EV) to avoid using high ISO and the Noise Reduction applied, causing smearing of fine details.  I have High ISO NR set to 'low'.

I don't see any 'Spot AF option, so am using the smaller of the two choices for AF box.

I am using continuous burst mode, as many shots do not come out really sharp.Mainly due to lower light conditions and the need for faster shutter speeds.

I have Custom color set to -2 for sharpening and -1 for contrast.

These have all been edited with FastStone Image Viewer, adjusting:

Cropping

Shadow/Highlight

Levels

Color

Sharpening

In that order.

More to come.
