Pix for the week Ending August 9th to 11th, 2019

Hello Sigma Shooters:

Summer is about half over and photo ops abound everywhere!  Time for our weekly show of photos taking with Sigma equipment.  Please try to limit you post to 3 images and give your post a title so that responses will be directed properly.

It is nice out there, so get out and take some photos

A Day Trip to Crested Butte
3

Kathleen and I took a rip to Crested Butte for a day and took a few photo of the beautiful country side near there that was covered with wild flowers. It was wonderful, with lots of flowers and sunshine, and great clouds. Here are a few images from our trip. Kathleen was shooting with her trusty SD15 and the 17-70 mm c lens and I had my SD1 merrill and a couple of lenses.

The first 2 images are by Kathleen and the third image is by yours truly

Detail of some wild flowers

Kathleen capture me shooting a beautiful scene on the road to gothic!

A large field of wild flowers just outside of Creted Butte on the road to Gothic.

Enjoy!

Hope you're enjoying life to the full, where ever you are. As for my contribution here, still no camera from Aizu since my SD1 days, but the glass definitely originated from that part of Japan.

Here's a prickly little creature I found scurrying on the side of the road a couple of days ago. Very obliging it was, although I could not extract even a hint of a smile.

Great shot of this busy little echidna, Jim.

I always get a buzz out of them when I see them in the bush.

Thank you kindly, Larry and I've got to get out more to unleash that Aizu glass on nature's treasures. However, I notice that as every year passes, this wintry weather is getting the better of me. Well, spring is nearing, so I might turn up unexpectedly, to hi-jack some of that sunshine from some fair weather photographer.

No new photos this week, so here are three from the archives. All DP3M.

Red, yellow and blue +

I was given a bouquet of rather wilted exotic blooms,

- but weeds and common hedgerow flowers are just as interesting in their form and colour ........

DP3M at ISO 400

Cake or Facebook????

Wanted a shot of this group in a hospital reception/waiting area. Main light from a glass roof but it was heavily overcast. Normally I never want or need to go above 100 but this is OK

Re: Red, yellow and blue +

I think the waiting room is OK because you let the shadows go black. If you wanted tones and detail in those areas, you would be frustrated.

Anyway it works well.

(As do the flowers, of course.)

Thanks Don. In fact I chose low key for the effect, the original is more like :-

A steadier hand than mine could have used 1/30th of a sec or so at ISO 100. Often exaggerated claims are made for high ISO shots when in fact there is enough light to use a slower shutter speed or wider aperture.  Typically, in this instance, the battery was near done so it was a one shot chance .........

Well the low key certainly works.

Take care.
