Odd behaviour with 85mm lens and nx1

I rarely use my nx85mm, but when I do I'm blown away by the results. However, today I ran into a few issues.

Firstly the autofocus switched off randomly and I had to reboot to get it working again.

Then the screen just sort of froze but then eventually came back to life.

When I turned the camera off and put it away it was only later that I realised that it hadn't actually turned off and had rinsed through the battery by keeping the screen on the whole time.

Could this be an issue with the lens? I know it's one of the older models but I don't know if it's renowned for this type of problem. I'll add that I haven't had any issues with any other lens, apart from the 60mm, but that only misbehaved on my old galaxy nx.

Might be an issue with contact. Try to clean the contacts on the lens and mount?

maybe i can explain the lens frozing problem..it usually happens on my nx1000 when i detach the lens and reattach it in manual mode,i dont know why,but you should consider about this....
p/s: you are currently holding my favourite portrait setup lol.

I'm pretty sure I was either in A or S modes as I very very rarely go full manual.

I absolutely love the 85mm, even if my copy is very squeaky and slow to focus (though I think they all are slow).

Now I'm wishing I held on to the 50-150mm as it's autofocus was superb and it had the added benefit of ois, particularly useful for video. Ah well..

I have had quite a few nx cameras and they can all be a little quirky. If I am having problems, I usually take the battery out for a minute and restart the camera. That usually does the trick to reset things since "OFF" is more of a standby mode than truly being off.

O.o  I just assumed only mine squeaked.  No real trouble with focus speed on mine though.

I have always had exactly the same issues with this lens on my NX500. I believe it is a firmware issue, though it seems to have persisted through firmware upgrades on both kens and body.

For this reason, along with the autofocus, I avoid using this lens for weddings or any other live action.
