Congratulations...
1

...on your 17 MM acquisition.

I'll eventually wind up with a 17 MM, and if I don't - oh well, that's life.  Here's a similar photo below (but at a larger resolution) from the 9 - 27 MM kit lens.

Re: A late personal review of a camera that still performs - the NX Mini

Thanks Ben for this review. I found it very informative and an interesting read.

Like you I also have the EX2F and it's great for general walk about with a great lens but I was always a little disappointed with it's results indoor in poor light. So I ordered an NX Mini with a 9mm lens yesterday on the strength of this and other users reviews. With a larger sensor I expect it will perform better. Expecting it to arrive tomorrow or the next day at the latest. Getting excited as it seems to tick all my personal wish list for a small camera that doesn't break the bank.

Thanks again for your excellent review.

Me also had an EX2F before upgrading to Mini.

The 1/1.7 sensor on 2F is no match to 1" inch sensor on Mini

You will first realize how much DR improvement on photos, significant shallower DOF (even with 9mm lens) and of course image will be a lot sharper than your 2F.

The only things i missed about my old 2F is the fully articulated LCD screen and ability to put the 24mm OVF on hotshoe.

Yes, I'm expecting general IQ improvements all-round.

I wasn't aware of the OVF option but probably won't go for one as I carry the EX2F 'permanently' on my person (as a non-mobile phone user) and don't want to add to the overall size. I'm hoping the NX mini will replace the EX2F in that role. Robustness is my only, albeit very slight concern.

Some more image samples:

TO BEST APPRECIATE IMAGES, CLICK ON THE "ORIGINAL SIZE" LINK BELOW EACH IMAGE TO BRING UP A MUCH LARGER AND SHARPER VERSION.

Typical of the many historical colonial period renovated homes that frequent both Washington and Bath, North Carolina.

The old are also balanced with the new as seen here.

This old grain storage facility - used to load the ships of 100+ years ago is now a rowing club habitat.

An old 120 year old (still works) turning railroad bridge.

Many historical home projects are underway in Washington, NC.

When you drive across the bridge coming into the small sleepy town of Bath, NC, you are greeted with this scene.

Taken on a river boat tour - this area was a huge bald eagle habitat - further up the Tar river.

Folks bring their boats and sail them through the Pamlico sound and into the Pamlico river and moor them along the board walk area.

Many river offshoots from the Tar river lead to unbelievably rich fishing holes like this scene. We were on the riverboat tour and we can upon these folks who knew the secrets of where to fish.

A history of Washington, NC - named after George Washington.

Hi Ben,

Do you have any tripod night photos taken with the 9-27mm?
Just wondering how good the sunstars are with the 9-27mm at F/8 or less.
The 9mm's sunstars are ugly.

Thank you.

Nope...

I rarely use a tripod anymore since all of my cameras either have IBIS or the lenses has IS.  I haven't tried anything with regards to sunstars either.

Re: Finally, Nx-m 17mm F1.8 is here

Hi

How are you getting on with the lens?  Where did you find it?  I’ve been looking everywhere!

I sold mine and get into MFT club after my NX mini sensor cease to work. I bought m7 17 1.8 via a local craiglist equivalent website. I still like the nx mini though, it just there are no options for better lens, covering other useful focal lengths like 28, 35, ultrawide and tele-portrait range.

What are your thoughts on MFT? I've been very tempted by a GH5 (mark 2), I wonder how it would compare to something like the NX1?

Re: A late personal review of a camera that still performs - the NX Mini

Hi Ben, very thorough review. Only downside to those with an NX 1 or NX500, in getting the NX minin is using all our NX lenses, since the NX toNX mini adapter is the most rare adapter of any kind to purchase.

saw this review from Marcuspix in the past and it was very interesting in watching it, especially when you watch what his past background and interests have been.
