M5 II vs M6 II Preference

For a bit of fun tonight, a theoretical matchup of upcoming offerings based off the existing rumor that both the M5 and M6 mark II's will sport a RP EVF. The only way I figure this is true is if it's in fact a pop-up EVF in the M6 which would make sense why they'd launch alongside each other... It's a difference in preference for similar groups of folks that have different needs.

Would you rather, all specs being equal (DIGIC8, 32MP sensor, no crop 4K etc etc)...

EOS M6 II ala G5X II: Pop-up EVF, no hotshoe, bounce flash in it's place. Tilty LCD just like the existing M6

I'm really fond of the flippy screens in my M50 and RP, so a perfect-for-me M6II would have a flippy screen.

I am using tilting screens for about 7 years now and I am really fond of the tilting screen on my M6, so a perfect-for-me M6II would keep this type of screen

Interesting!

I am presuming, the original M, M2, M3 will be discontinued and will go with: M5 (equivalent to 7D series),  M6 (equivalent to xxD series) and Mxx (equivalent to xxxD series).

I could go with either M6 II & M5 II series because of the availability of dials and buttons. I do not want the M50 as I am not accustomed to one dial operation.

If I absolutely have to pick one, I'll go with M6 II, provided it retains the same size and buttons/dials as the present M6.

No, they'll continue a M100 of sorts which the M100 is the spiritual successor to the M, M2 and M10.

The M6 is the successor to the M3.

The M5, was the first flagship model.

The catch, the M100's successor, may be a M50 of sorts; possibly 24MP APS-C with DIGIC8 vs the more expensive, larger M5 / M6 II will probably sport the newer sensor and DIGIC8, whatever specs that newer sensor has.

Re: M5 II vs M6 II Preference

I would never buy a camera that doesn't have a traditional EVF, so my vote has to go to option 1.

However I have both a two year old 80D and a two month old M50 , so I'm not likely to upgrade any time soon. My feeling right now is that I'm not likely to buy another camera until I can get one with IBIS.

M6 ii in Silver!

I don't know why people are so worried about a lack of EVF--my M6 does have one, and it's really nice! And I really like the ability to swap between taking it off and going pocket size with the 22mm, or going all out with the Tamron or the Sigma.

I just hope the mark II comes in silver, so I can reuse my EVF!

Re: M5 II vs M6 II Preference

1. EVF

I chose M5 over M6 because of EVF.
IMO, M5 ii must have EVF as M5 does. Maybe a better EVF.

When it comes to M6 ii, first of all, M6 must have a hot shoe. Otherwise, it is very similar to M100. Then we have several options for EVF use.

1) External attachment like EVF-DC1/2.
2) Pop-up like G5 X Mark II.
3) Built-in, but different location like Sony A6xxx and Fuji XE3.

2. LCD

1) Two way tilt
2) Three way tilt
3) Full articulated

I would like to have the option two.
