Canon EOS Rebel T7i

My camera is stuck in video mode, just like I had read that one person had a problem with on their T5i. There is no firmware update and the fix for her problem is not working for mine. Does anyone have any idea how I can get my camera out of video mode? Thanks

Re: Canon EOS Rebel T7i

I don't know if you solved your problem.

I looked through my seldom used T7i menus and could find no reset option.

If you have not done so removing the battery for at least 24 hours, several days would be better, should discharge the camera fully--if you don't have to reset the date when you re-insert the battery turn the camera back on it is not discharged.

Otherwise a call to Canon as the mechanical switch could be broken.

Re: Canon EOS Rebel T7i

User from Canon USA forum reported same issue on same model:

"I have just had the exact same problem with my canon 800d/t7i
It was stuck on in video mode and it wouldnt turn off or go into photo mode even when turning the switch (the switch still clicked) i had removed the battery and sd card and let the batteryy drain, i charged the battery for a few mins and then put it back in the camera. the camera still had the same problem. wouldnt turn off and stuck in video mode. so i left it to one side for a little while. i heard the camera click (the sound it makes when it switches from live view to viewfinder) i didnt touch it i just left it alone and it made the click noise again, that was when the camera had actually turned off. so i turned it on and the camera settings had been reset. it turns off and on as normal as it should now. I just left it on for a while and now it works. dont know how."

It is always a good move to remove the power source from the device and let it sit. It isn't exactly science, but it may just work for you. GL!

Re: Canon EOS Rebel T7i

Thank You. I have done that and it still is in video mode. I will try one more time and if it doesn't work thankfully there is a Canon repair business that is less than an hour away from my house that I will take it to. I hope someone has reported this to Canon so they can provide a firmware update. I just hate being without my camera when there have been several days I have felt like doing nothing but taking pictures.
