I may need to vote remotely again.

A business or pleasure trip? Do you need to travel for business?

Have any of you shot them? If so, I'd like to see your results. If they are presently active in your area, I encourage you to try. I'm going to keep watching, and if there's a night when they are as dense as they were in early July, I'll grab my camera and tripod.

They are gone from where I live. I tried to shoot them a few weeks back when we went camping in the flint hills but I failed miserably in my attempt.

My thought was to try to stack a series of time exposure, shooting with my 24mm pancake.

Our back yard did provide a visual treat this evening; a turkey hen and her three chicks sauntered across just inside of tree line. No time to grab a camera, and it was raining pretty hard (I was surprised the turkeys hadn't sought shelter). I wasn't aware any were nesting in the area.

A really good challenge.

I might have some at my brother's house. But I don't have my tripod.

I'll try anyway if I see them.

It is going well. We are in Monroe visiting my brother and their new & first grandchild. We leave here Tuesday am for Maine.

Mostly family time. Weather has been good, though with summertime humidity.

Glad you're enjoying your stay. I am on the other side of town. I hope your good weather luck continues. There have been quite a few storms. Are you seeing any sights and finding any worthy photographic subjects in addition to the new baby?

Dave,

The only outing was to the metro park and the canal ride.

The rest of the time has been family time. That was the objective, and it has worked out very well.

The Pricing of a Maidenhead in a Brothel in Meteline

As an ancient city, lying off the east coast, Mytilene was initially confined to a small island just offshore that later was joined to Lesbos, creating a north and south harbor. The early harbors of Mytilene were linked during ancient times by a channel 700 meters long and 30 meters wide. The Roman writer Longus speaks of white stone bridges linking the two sides. The Greek word εὔριπος eúripos is a commonly-used term when referring to a strait. The strait allowed ancient warships called triremes, with three tiers of rowers or more. The boats that passed were ca. six meters wide plus oars and had depth of two meters.

The areas of the city that were densely populated connected the two bodies of land with marble bridges. They usually followed a curved line. The strait begins at the old market called Apano Skala. It was also close to Metropolis Street and ended at the Southern Harbor. One could argue that the channel transversed what is now called Ermou Street. Over time the strait began to collect silt and earth. There was also human intervention for the protection of the Castle of Mytilene. The strait eventually filled with earth.[2]

Do all pics have to be in pbase?  It looks like a pbase account is needed?

Thanks,

Jim

A direct answer to your question - yes, all pictures go into pbase.

But you do not have to have your own account - we maintain one for this challenge.

We would welcome you to participate with us now and in the future.

If you are new and do not know the user id and password, please send an email to :

passes(--at--)imageattic.net

Please replace(--at--) with @ in the email address before you send it out.

One of the challenge administrators will contact you with that information, but please be patient.

I look forward to your contributions.

Jumping into the water

This challenge started the weekend that I returned from summer vacation so my pictures have to go into the Exhibition category. For many reasons it is not good enough for the Eligilble category but I was struck by the joy that the girl had in jumping off the pier and grabbed the picture as I saw it.

Re: **Photo Challenge CIC 194 -- Summer **

Just posted my first 2 pics, taken during our vacation in Duck, NC last week.  These were taken with a Fuji XP130 (the Fuji waterproof camera), and I was surprised that I was able to get these, esp. the ones with the birds overhead.  The XP130 was the only camera I took with us this time.
