54MP Four Third camera !

What I just post on the Medium format forum :

Even if it was never announced as a key feature on the FF world, at least for me, the 4:3 and 1:1 Image ratio finally announced by Sony on an A7 body is a breaking point feature.

Now I (we) can finally compare a 44x33mm 50MP / 100MP "small"medium format with a 32x24mm 54MP even smaller medium format system

61MP 3:2
54MP 4:3
40MP 1:1

I was still hesitating for my "very old" GH4 replacement as I love 4:3 aspect ratio. I'm afraid I will no more.

Your GH4 is a Micro Four Thirds camera. The Four Thirds refers to the size of the sensor not the aspect ratio.

32x24mm will be my next FFT sensor camera (F for Full).
Please, let me dream it "is" a four third cam

35mm format is, and will always be the small format.

4/3" will always be full frame as long you don't crop the image, and format is 4/3" in diagonal size, not in ratio, that is 4:3.

Medium format will be anything larger than small format.

Maybe because of my poor English or my poor photographic culture but apparently, we don't speak the same "camera language".
But it's not a problem.
I have now my "FFT" camera

After watching the film Dunkirk last night I looked up what an iMax camera was. The format is about 6x bigger than the tiny 35mm so called 'full frame' cams!

I want an iMax, trouble is, they weigh about 80lbs !!!

And don't let anybody tell you otherwise. Remember, it's what you feel and imagine not those pesky technical details what get's the picture in the box.

So congratulations to your new FFT camera. May it serve you well
